Team Lead, Engineering

What we’re looking for:
We are looking for a Team Lead to take the lead of one of our many Engineering teams. You’ll lead by example, helping our business to scale, building new products, and ensuring your team's productivity and objectives. You will have to be part technical expert, part negotiator, part people manager. The technical solutions put out by your team need to be aligned with the higher strategic objectives and you will relate with stakeholders from other areas of the organization. You will also be hands on where needed and will work on creating a psychologically safe environment for your team members.
To be successful in this role, you should be confident in managing your team while, at the same time, setting goals, and timelines for various projects. We also expect you to oversee software development plans from ideation to execution.
Ultimately, you’ll make sure we use innovative technologies that maximize our productivity and help Odeko grow.
How you’ll make an impact:
- Oversee a cross-disciplinary digital product team, their people, and their projects.
- Set, align, and report on goals for your team.
- Monitor reliability and performance of all internal systems to suggest improvements.
- Manage software development projects by setting requirements, goals, and timelines.
- Align future development projects based on the company’s overall objectives and resources.
- Eventually participate in the hiring process of engineers and coordinate their training.
- Research, explore, recommend, and internally sell innovative ideas and technologies.
- Coordinate with other internal and external stakeholders.
- Review and update policies and documents relevant to internal systems and equipment.
You have:
- Work experience as an engineering leader or similar
- Experience with cloud technologies and modern human-computer interfaces
- Hands-on experience in back-end and front-end development, ideally in our stack (AWS, Kafka, Ruby on Rails, Node, TypeScript, Kubernetes, React & ReactNative)
- Good understanding of agile methodologies and the ability to instill best practices
- Leadership abilities with a strategic mind
- Excellent project management skills
- Exceptional communication skills
