Koch Ag & Energy Solutions, LLC. (KAES, a Koch Industries company) is seeking a System Support Developer to support our Natural Gas Trading, Koch Energy Services (KES) business. This role will be working with a team to maintain and lift our production and non-production systems to the next levels of operational excellence. Our System Support Developer engages with our business analysts as well as support and project team members to achieve stable and reliable systems by helping create scripted and configured solutions. They also help drive best practices for storing, managing, and integrating with KES' critical data assets.

KES is a top 10 North American Gas Marketer. More than 5BCF of Gas are procured, managed, and distributed in North America daily. From an IT perspective, this creates a wealth of opportunities to develop and apply your skills and to explore a variety of career paths.

This role will collaborate cross-functionally with the Application Development, Database, DevOps teams, and other IT technical teams across KAES to deliver critical system needs for a variety of business opportunities. The ideal candidate is open to learning new ways to achieve a shared vision, has an entrepreneurial mindset, strong communication skills, and excellent critical thinking skills. This is a flexible hybrid opportunity based out of Houston, TX.
What You Will Do In Your Role

  • Liaise with our internal KAES DevOps team to identify areas of improvement we can apply in the KES IT area
  • Interact with various teams to build and maintain a universal KES systems notification dashboard
  • Review our existing non-production environment management process to find areas of improvement and work within the team to implement changes
  • Assist with data migration from legacy environments to new locations and manage discussions with the DBA team to apply the changes
  • Leverage existing knowledge of scripting languages to build repeatable, automated solutions for system-related activities
  • Mentor with experienced developers to learn vendor-supplied system and custom scripting language (OpenLink/OpenJVS) to assist with an ongoing pipeline of work


The Experience You Will Bring

  • Experience rapidly developing proof of concepts and testing new ideas, as well as scaling these ideas into production ready models
  • Experience developing and deploying business critical development solutions into a production environment


What Will Put You Ahead

  • Hands-on experience collaboratively developing code for a production environment, including:
    • PowerShell
    • SQL Server Stored Procedures
    • Excel VBA
  • Willingness and ability to learn custom scripting for vendor-supplied products like OpenJVS from Ion for OpenLink ETRM software
  • Experience leveraging system monitoring and notification tools such as DataDog
  • Experience leveraging cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP) or Microsoft Azure
  • Experience with Scrum/Agile delivery processes and DevOps concepts (i.e. CI/CD)
  • Able to independently work with other teams in technical implementations
  • Experience with Trading and Risk Management Data
  • Experience with North American Natural Gas Data
  • Relevant education, Degree (Bachelor's) in engineering, mathematics, physics, economics, computer science, statistics, or business analytics
