Job Details:

Job Summary: The Associate Systems Test Engineer will apply fundamental engineering principles for the development and exercise of test plans, test procedures, and test reports. Incumbents in this position will contribute to the development of manual and/or automated functional integration and end-to-end tests for overall system evaluation. Systems may include device software, back office applications, web, and/or mobile based applications that reference database back-end systems. This position typically works under close supervision and direction.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Works with engineering leads to develop payment system security requirements.
  • Works closely with management to develop and coordinate system test concepts and objectives.
  • Develops test plans, cases, manual testing procedures, and reports.
  • Prepares test status reports and presents status to peers and management.
  • Traces system requirements from customer specifications to test cases and validates requirements through test execution.
  • Conducts integration and formal system tests.
  • Maintains the test requirements database.
  • Identifies and documents defects, defines severity and priority, assists with triaging and investigating issues.
  • Identifies creative options for improving testing efficiency, quality, and effectiveness.
  • Interfaces with customer representatives during test phase.
  • May provide technical guidance, mentoring, and training to junior test personnel.
  • Performs other system test engineering duties as required to meet contractual requirements.



Minimum Job Requirements:

  • Four-year college degree in engineering, computer science, information systems, or other related technical discipline
  • plus a minimum of two years of experience, or a Master's of Science degree.
  • Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills as well as the ability to analyze complex problems and multi-task.
  • Must be detail oriented, analytical, and creative thinker with passion for quality and testing.
  • Requires knowledge of system test engineering and knowledge of software compilers, architecture, embedded processing, operating systems, and/or mobile devices.
  • Experience of systems that use Symmetric and Asymmetric Cryptography.
  • Experience with any of these following JAVA, C/C++, C#, TCP/IP, UNIX, Visual Basic, PERL, SQL Queries, and/or ClearCase.
  • Good understanding of XML, databases and SQL is desired.
  • Understanding of API testing with SOAP, REST.
  • Experience with test processes, open-source test frameworks, test design strategies, writing test cases, and automating tests in Java with frameworks like JUnit/TestNG, Selenium, JMeter and Appium preferred.
  • Experience with Jenkins or other continuous integration systems is desired.
  • Experience with tools & applications (JIRA, Confluence, BitBucket, Git and Artifactory/Maven preferred.)
  • Effective written and oral communication skills are required.
  • Must have the ability to analyze and test complex engineering software and be able to prioritize and conduct multiple tasks under deadline and budget constraints.
  • Use of standard hand tools, and special and general-purpose test equipment.
  • Travel, both domestic and foreign may be necessary to perform on-site testing.
  • Must be able to spend long periods of time working at a computer terminal.
  • May require standing for prolonged periods of time.
