Description

This position contributes to and influences strategic planning, vendor management, system design and implementation, and continuous improvement as it relates to IT infrastructure and DevOps. This position serves as the sole owner of the availability and reliability of Cambria's critical systems, including but not limited to servers, operating systems, storage systems, backups, virtualization, public and private cloud infrastructure, and applications. This position oversees two key technical disciplines within the Cambria IT Department in a manner that highlights attention to detail, a sense of urgency and an awareness of how the team's success in carrying out their mission impacts Cambria.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee a team of Systems Engineers and Site Reliability Engineers
  • Meet with team members in one-on-one meetings to discuss performance and and track personal development goals
  • Manage relationship and work with Cambria's hardware, software, and services vendors to purchase new software and renew existing agreements and support
  • Partner with IT leadership and the business to define and establish Service Level Agreements (SLAs), then track and report on SLAs
  • Oversee and ensure clear communication to business partners regarding planned maintenance, upgrades, and during outages
  • Plan stories into sprints for the Systems Engineering team, report to leadership on project progression and hurdles
  • Manage and ensure identification of recurring issues and drive the implementation of permanent solutions
  • Develop and maintain dashboards showing system uptime, SLAs, and usage trends to help with purchase forecasting and capacity planning


Requirements

  • Experience hiring and mentoring junior staff and team members
  • Project planning and execution experience (Jira preferred)
  • Enterprise-level 24x7 operational support experience.
  • Knowledge of web service development and deployment, with a specific focus on micro service-based architectures.
  • Experience working with Agile delivery methodologies such as Scrum and Kanban. Familiarity and experience with ALM tool sets (Cambria uses Jira), collaboration software (such as Slack, G-Suite, and Confluence), a plus.
  • Experience working in a startup technology business or an incubator business within a larger organization.
  • Bachelor's degree of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related technical degree or equivalent experience
  • Excellent written, oral and group presentation communication skills including the ability to articulate solutions in many formats so that they are consumable by development teams, business stakeholders, and audiences external to Cambria.
  • Experience taking a proactive and self-motivated approach toward technology evaluation, project delivery, requirements gathering, process improvement, and anticipation of future needs.
  • Experience engaging with Product Owners and Business Users in feature negotiation to identify the right approach and timing to address customer requirements


Minimum Requirements:
Education: Bachelor's Degree or related technical degree or equivalent experience
Experience: 1-3 years in a leadership role, 7 or more years in a technical role
Systems: Proficient in Microsoft Office. Experience with cloud (AWS is required), Operating Systems (both Windows and Linux), Virtualization (VMware and Nutanix), Storage systems (Pure storage), and Physical infrastructure (Dell servers)

Additional Requirements:

Managerial Responsibilities: Manage a team of six individual contributor direct reports

Travel Requirements: May be required to travel to other Cambria locations
Physical Requirements: Office position requiring telephone and computer use
