MITRE's Naval C4I & Space Department is seeking a Systems Engineer to provide strategic and technical leadership in support of the Navy warfighter.
Key Functions:
- Provide the Navy with system of systems engineering, and technical leadership to shape the requirements, technology assessments, development, and implementation strategy to modernize critical strategic warfighter capabilities.
- Contribute and/or lead a dynamic multi-disciplined team developing technical solutions through innovation and translate into actionable recommendations for the Navy warfighter to employ.
Basic Qualifications:
- Typically requires a minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 6 years and a Master's degree; or a PhD with 3 years' experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.
- Applicants selected for this position will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or applicants who are eligible for security clearances.
Required Qualifications:
- Understands the systems engineering process and its application
- Ability to work independently to learn new technologies, techniques, processes, software languages, platforms, and systems
- Expertise to provide unbiased advice, formulate courses of action, analyze programs, and make recommendations across a wide spectrum of issues
- Passionate, goal driven, team oriented and outgoing
- Demonstrable ability to lead through influence not just authority
- Effective team leadership & communication skills
- Possess an active Secret level security clearance
- Obtain and maintain a TS/SCI level security clearance
PreferredQualifications:
- Posses an active TS/SCI level security clearance
- Experience working on Navy C4I & Space systems from a technical or operational perspective
- MS in Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a similar field, including most engineering disciplines
- 8+ years of relevant experience with exposure to range of systems engineering lifecycle activities (requirements, design, development, testing, deployment, sustainment)
- Familiarity with any of the following:
- Agile Methodologies
- Cyber threats & mitigations
- Data Science, Analytics and/or Simulation
- DevOps
- Machine Learning and/or Artificial Intelligence
- Model Based Systems Engineering
- Operations Research
- Science & Technology (S&T) capability assessments, trade studies, analysis of alternatives
- Software development
- Tactical communications under Denied, Degraded, Intermittent, Low-bandwidth conditions
