Systems Engineer
Vicarious Surgical is hiring a Systems Engineer to join our team in Waltham, MA. The Systems Engineering group includes cross-functional team members spanning a number of design and engineering disciplines including systems, mechanical, electrical, computer-science, software, controls, human factors, UI/UX, industrial design, and product design.
As a Systems Engineer, you will contribute to all aspects of system-level design, integration, testing, and medical device design controls. In this role, you will be asked to support system and subsystem development in a variety of ways. Specific responsibilities are listed below.
Vicarious Surgical’s novel approach to surgery uses a combination of proprietary, human-like surgical robots and virtual reality to transport surgeons inside the patient when performing minimally invasive surgery. Our technology was granted Breakthrough Device Designation by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), which provides unique opportunities for our regulatory pathway.

Responsibilities
- Contribute to projects and initiatives to test concepts, develop prototypes, and answer key questions
- Interface with key stakeholders, including Marketing and surgeons, to translate market needs to system requirements
- Collaborate with Quality, Regulatory, and Clinical representatives to satisfy each department’s needs from Engineering and to achieve common goals
- Develop formal requirements and contribute to risk-management activities
About You
- Minimum of a B.S. in an engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Computer Science)
- 1 or more years of experience in medical device industry and/or experience with robotics or other complex electromechanical devices
- Broad experience/knowledge across multiple engineering disciplines
- Demonstrated track record of successfully working on complex projects
- Personable team player
