The Job Details are as follows:
The Systems Engineer will be responsible for the day to day delivery of services and support across all platforms, including virtual and physical servers, storage, backups, cloud, containers and disaster recovery. This role will be expected to assist senior members on large-scale projects. Must have the ability to interact with multiple technology teams within the company.
Responsibilities:
- Administer Unix/Linux systems with day-to-day system resource requests, including creating new systems, changing system level access, installing packages, discovering and configuring storage and backup services.
- Support, maintain, analyze and solve problems across multiple computing platforms.
- Work with development, database and operations teams to address day-to-day support requests and issues.
- Understand virtual environments, cloud computing, containers, storage, and disaster recovery concepts.
- Use scripting and automation to effectively manage hosting services.
- Document and report on work efforts.
- Provide feedback and requirements to engineering and solutions teams on technology and automation needs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a Computer Science related discipline required and skills usually represented by 1-2 years of working knowledge of Unix based systems.
- Experience with Linux configurations tools.
- Ability to develop shell scripts and knowledge of either Perl or Python programming languages.
- Having the ability to analyze and solve problems in existing systems.
- Must be able to work with a variety of operating systems, including Linux, Windows and VMWare.
- Must understand configuration management concepts and an understanding of tools, such as Ansible.
- Must have knowledge and experience with scripting, including BASH, and Perl. Knowledge of Hadoop configurations, including Hbase, HDFS is desirable.
