The Engineering Methods and Tools (ETM) Engineer is a technical engineering role in the Engineering Methods and Tools Department at Pratt & Whitney. The ETM Engineer will be responsible for owning tasks that contribute to the development and deployment of propulsion system performance and operability simulation tool sets, Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools sets, and Multi-disciplinary Design Analysis & Optimization (MDAO) system design exploration tool sets, to support engineering with solving challenging system design problems, adding rigor to system analysis processes, and improving efficiency for carrying out system design and analysis capabilities.

Responsibilities include:

  • The ETM Engineer is expected to execute assignments and own outcomes of methods and tools development for propulsion system simulation, MBSE, and MDAO.
  • This includes but is not limited to system modeling & simulation, model integration methods, optimization methods, design space interrogation and analysis methods, and design process automation methods.
  • The ETM Engineer will work closely with methods strategy leaders and lead method implementation projects.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 2+ years' of prior relevant experience.
  • Candidates should have strong creative thinking skills and a passion for learning and discovery.
  • Candidates should have a background and experience in system modeling and simulation, object-oriented programming, numerical methods, and experience working with design exploration techniques such as DOE and optimization strategies.
  • Candidates must be either a U.S. citizen or have Permanent Resident status.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred candidates would include those that have knowledge and experience with MBSE, Cameo Systems Modeler, SysML, Isight, 3DExperience, Cameo, Dymola, NPSS, Modelica, SysML, FMI, C++ or Java Programming.
  • Candidates need to have exceptional communication skills, demonstrated team leadership and quality project management skills.
