About the Role:

Wing is looking for a Systems Engineer to join our Technical Infrastructure team based in Palo Alto, California, and Sydney, Australia. Our team has a broad remit, providing the ground infrastructure across our global deployments, as well as developing and deploying cloud-based services for Wing's flight operations, engineering and business teams to safely manage our aircraft fleet and delivery operations.

What You’ll Do:

• Identify system-level changes rather than just software changes
• Focus on large-scale automation and correctness
• Design and implement backend software systems to make data accessible
• Design and implement integration tests that include your backend server work
• Participate in team software processes, including: requirement and test-plan generation, design doc creation, implementation with code review, and deployment

What You'll Need: 

• BA/BS degree in Computer Science, related field or equivalent practical experience
• 3+ years developing back end services (We primarily write C++ and Python)
• Experience in configuration and maintenance of applications such as web servers, load balancers, relational databases and storage systems
• Experience developing and maintaining production systems deployed to the cloud

Bonus: 

• Experience handling sensitive customer data and logs
• Experience with distributed locking, consensus algorithms, or similar architectures
• Ability to design and implement mission-critical software developed according to a rigorous process
• Strong experience in designing and implementing highly horizontally-scalable architecture
