JOB SCOPE
The Systems Engineer is responsible for effective installation/configuration, provisioning, operations, monitoring, and maintenance of cloud based systems which include hardware, software and other related infrastructure to support video applications. The individual will support multiple teams which include development, engineering and lab teams and will provide technical support to enable continuing innovation within the cloud infrastructure. This team provides 24x7 support for the Video Operations department.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for operating and maintaining health of Video Operations applications
Deploying code to the applications, and ensuring success
Identifying and correcting monitoring and alerting gaps to prevent outage
Maintain accurate record keeping of system architecture
Perform change work under Change Management guidelines
Provide 24x7 triage support by way of on-call rotation
Occasionally work nights and/or weekends

BASIC / MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, and / or equivalent work experience
Minimum of five (5) years of engineering work experience
Minimum three (3) years of Unix and Linux operating systems work experience
Minimum three (3) years of deployment troubleshooting and providing administration work experience
Must be able to work the following schedule: Monday thru Thursday from 8PM - 6AM

ADDITIONAL JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge of GIT/subversion technology
Intermediate knowledge of scripting; Shell, PERL, Python, Ansible, etc.
Ability to providing 'on call' support on a rotating basis to resolve system/application issues after normal business hours
Knowledge of edge configuration equipment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Telecommunication and / or cable industry experience
Monitoring and alerting: Splunk, Elk stack, Icinga

The pay for this position has a minimum of $76,800.00. The actual salary offer may be higher as we carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience and location. Also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses.

But one in particular excites him most: defining a common set of standards for Charter’s backend API services across its many platforms. “We hope to consolidate our services in order to make them easily consumable by our web, mobile and TV-OS applications,” Bonds said.
