Job Summary:

The Architect is responsible for the architectural design, development, and deployment of the enterprise's overall systems. Daily infrastructure maintenance and management of business applications used by the Irrigation division. Manage medium to large scale projects from conception to completion including project timelines. Defines system solutions based on user/client needs, cost, and required integration with existing applications, systems or platforms. Develops and socializes architecture strategies, standards and guidelines. Researches, identifies, selects, and tests technology products required for solution delivery.

This role includes difficult work on highly technical and involved projects which can present new and changing problems. This senior level role requires outstanding judgement, initiative and ingenuity, as well as requiring the incumbent to work both independently and as part of a team toward department and company objectives. The individual may need to devise methods and/or procedure to meet unusual conditions, and there is a responsibility to make original contributions in order to solve complex problems. Finally the incumbent may need to mentor and support lesser skilled team members.

The Architect reports to the Sr. Manager Commercial Applications, who in turn reports to the Director, Global Commercial Applications. Within the current organizational structure, the Director, Global Commercial Applications reports directly to Irrigation President. The System Architect does not have any direct or indirect subordinates. The job level held is that of individual contributor and the function is within the business Application Development team.

Basic Qualifications (Required):

  • Ten (10) years related experience
  • State-of-art design techniques.
  • Experience in architecting, designing, developing, and implementing enterprise application solutions with .NET programming language on various frameworks: C#.NET, ASP.NET, .Net Core, WCF, WPF, SOAP, RESTful Web Services, TFS, and MVC.
  • Experience with MS SQL, Oracle PL/SQL, or any equivalent database background
  • Strong coding and development experience in Front-end frameworks such as Backbone, Angular, React.
  • Experience with working on Google Maps JavaScript API to build custom mapping applications.
  • Understanding of SDLC development methodologies such as SCRUM and Agile.
  • Experience conducting performance code reviews and troubleshooting all software development issues
  • Experience leading and mentoring teams to provide technical deliverables
  • Proven experience in delivering effective technical architecture strategies

Responsibilities:

Architect is a professional role within information and communication technology that defines the architecture of business applications in order to fulfill certain company requirements. Architects divide large and complex projects into manageable tasks that can be addressed in a reasonable time frame by the Architect himself or other IT professionals.

Additional duties include understanding customer requirements (internal or external) as well as current technological and system capabilities so as to provide application development recommendations with the right balance of features, performance and cost. The incumbent will be required to develop new applications as well as make significant changes to current applications. Finally the incumbent shall be required to explain often-complex concepts to different audiences, including non-technical individuals so as to gain the support needed to complete the project.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has supervisory responsibilities.

Nature and Scope:

The Business Systems Analyst is accountable for supporting global systems and software products analysis and design at a complex level, with focus on quality improvement, data management, and process improvement and/or re-engineering. There will be some travels with this positon as it involves supporting all international sites.

Working Conditions:

Work is typically performed within an office environment. The incumbent is regularly required to sit for extended periods of time, as well as talk and listen on the phone in addition to participate in meetings. Environment is fast-paced and demanding most of the time. Some travel may be required.
