The engineering team is seeking a system engineer for the development, validation and service of our products including but not limited to system instruments.  Our team is responsible for the entire hardware and design & development of our platform as well as developing core technologies for our product portfolio.

Responsibilities:

  • Define and track product requirements, including but not limited to analog and digital circuit design, for electro-mechanical and optical systems
  • Lead the design, manufacturing, and validation of custom PCBAs
  • Lead the verification and validation of electrical sub-systems
  • Collect and analyze information to interpret and assess system performance
  • Provide instrumentation and test fixture support for internal R&D, engineering, and operations
  • Troubleshoot and repair instrumentation and test fixture issues and provide design feedback
  • Author or co-author troubleshooting documentation
  • Define and generate system diagnostic and test procedures
  • Develop test methods for verification of commercial systems
  • Validate service troubleshooting documentation and software
  • Contribute to overall integration of instrumentation
  • Collaborate with other team members on subsystem design and transfer to manufacturing
  • Other duties may be assigned

Education and Experience 

BS/MS in electronics and/or system engineering, physics or related with 5+ years’ experience, or equivalent. First-hand experience in biotech/genomics preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Working experience with Altium schematic capture and PCBA layout tool
  • Ability to troubleshoot laboratory equipment and commercial products involving chemistry, biology, software, and hardware
  • Proficient using lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and electronic loads
  • Experience developing or servicing scientific instrumentation involving optics and fluidic
  • Experience with fluorescence microscopy is a plus
  • First-hand experience in pilot/production environments, including tech transfer activities, sustaining support, and continuous improvement
  • Ability to work independently as well as on teams
  • Experience with working on teams that have taken products from concept to market
  • Highly organized, flexible, and detail-oriented
  • Strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves attitude with high sense of urgency and drive for results
  • First-hand experience in start-up environment is desired
