POSITION SUMMARY:

Do you possess solid communication and leadership skills? Boys Town is looking for an experiencedSystem Developer Analyst. In this role, you will develop, design, implement, analyze, and/or modify systems for various applications, and works with users to define system requirements and resolve problems for our Blackbaud CRM solution. This position codes, tests, debugs, and documents programs on large-scale, complex projects, and revises and updates programs and documentation as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & DUTIES:

  • Designs, develops, implements, and maintains complex systems.
    • Manages develops, and/or analyzes database through use of query languages, multiple access methods, protection and security, and documentation.
    • Translates business needs into technical solutions based on end-user requirements.
    • Develops new software applications or modules using organizational standard programming languages and develops support materials including system documentation and operational instructions.
    • Develops automated scripts for validating upgrades and patches and for data cleanup, analysis, and manipulation.
    • Designs, develops, and analyzes metrics for evaluating information on large datasets.
    • Develops and recommends system modifications or replacements based on ease of implementation and cost, documents system design, format, and programs necessary for implementation.
    • Monitors the creation, growth, and usage of tablespaces, tables, indexes and other database objects as needed.
    • Installs, maintains, and configures new software as needed.
    • Analyzes requirements for information needed to measure results of marketing efforts and implements procedures to collect such data.
    • Designs and develops programs and reports that are used to evaluate the effectiveness of various types of campaigns; reviews result of campaigns and makes recommendations for changes to improve results of future efforts.
    • Evaluates and recommends products or services offered from marketing and computing vendors based on quality and price; evaluates new hardware and software technologies and determines feasibility of different alternatives.
    • Coordinates and leads data project activities.
  • Serves as a role model in carrying out the Father Flanagans Boys Home mission.
    • Directs all activities towards the fulfillment of the Boys Town mission
    • Directs all actions to reflect the values and principles of Boys Town
    • Establishes and maintains an environment that encourages teamwork, collaboration, and ethical behavior
    • Maintains regular, reliable and predictable attendance
    • Supports other members of the management team and their work
  • Other Duties: This job description incorporates the essential functions and duties required for this position. However, other duties may be required and assigned at times and as determined by a supervisor in order to meet the needs of the organization

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Extensive knowledge of data processing, hardware platforms, and enterprise software applications. Strong knowledge of SQL database structures, reading and writing SQL statements and procedures, usage of SQL utilities, normalizing databases, and query performance tuning.
  • Background in database design, coding, and development.
  • Strong project management skills with effective results focused within an information systems environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex sets of data.
  • Knowledge of development and implementation of standards, procedures, and guidelines to support operational processes.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to stay focused with limited supervision, prioritize projects, meet deadlines, and manage changing priorities.
  • Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 4 years of experience in a formal database analysis position or a demonstrated ability to perform database analyst duties in a variety of disciplines.
  • Extensive experience in UNIX OS and DOS/Windows environment and/or Microsoft BI Software (SSRS, SSIS, SSAS), .NET programming, HTML, XML, JavaScript, ASP.NET, C#.NET, Blackbaud Enterprise CRM.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND EQUIPMENT USAGE:
Position requires little to moderate physical activity. Mostly sedentary work exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. No significant stooping is usually required.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is typically in a normal office administrative or computer environment involving minimal exposure to physical risks.
