Surface Ship Senior Systems Engineer - Remote Opportunity!
Basic Qualifications
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field. Also requires 2+ years of job-related experience or a Master's degree. Agile experience preferred.
CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Department of Defense Secret security clearance is required within a reasonable period of time. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
Responsibilities for this Position
General Dynamics Mission Systems has an immediate opening for a Surface Ship Senior Systems Engineer. In this role you will work as part of an integrated Team on various technical tasks and design efforts for the Littoral Combat Ship Program and Surface Ship Programs. This position provides an opportunity to further advance the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's core defense/intelligence services and systems. General Dynamics Mission Systems employees work closely with esteemed customers to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions.
This opportunity will allow you to join the growing Surface Ship Team in Pittsfield MA. You will be working on Navy Ships including the Independence Variant of the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS), Expeditionary Fast Transport (EPF), and potential new Navy Platforms. The core mission system of the Littoral Combat Ship Independence Variant is built on General Dynamics' computing infrastructure. Our computing technology controls everything from ship navigation to firing weapons, and is designed to maximize automation, enabling sailors to focus on their missions. You will be involved with the end-to-end design, production, delivery, and sustainment of the ships and work closely with the customer and sailors as the end user of the product to ensure mission alignment and product quality. REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES AND TASKS:
- Participates in requirements analysis, requirements management, functional analysis, performance analysis, system design, trade studies, systems integration and test (verification).
- Performs interface definition studies of system components and products under direct supervision.
- Supports the generation of technical engineering products by using the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the system development life cycle.
- Develops and evaluates systems, networks and information systems to ensure designs meet applicable governmental security specifications
- May provide system accreditation/certification evaluation and test support to ensure all technical security features (e.g., identification, authentication, access control, labeling, and auditing) of the system are considered and function properly
- Identifies, analyzes and resolves system design weaknesses.
- Influences the shaping of future products by contributing to the framework (architecture) used across multiple products or systems.
- Receives instructions from immediate supervisor
- Travel may be required
- Security clearance may be required
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Working knowledge of the systems engineering concepts, principles, and theories.
- Working knowledge of the system engineering process.
- Good ability to grasp and apply new information quickly.
- Good ability to handle more complex assignments as experience progresses.
- Shows initiative on assignments, and professionally executes projects with little direction.

What you bring to the table:
- A Bachelor's degree in systems engineering, a related specialized area or field and a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience or a Master's degree; Agile experience preferred
- Solid knowledge of systems engineering concepts, principles and theories
- Solid knowledge of requirements management and system modeling tools
- Familiarity with technical standards

Minimum Salary
USD $80,000.00/Yr.
Maximum Salary
USD $95,000.00/Yr.

It is estimated based on what a successful Colorado applicant might be paid. It assumes that the successful candidate will be in Colorado or perform the position from Colorado.
