Inventory optimization is a key element for integrated supply chain planning. Throughout the supply chain, large amounts of money are tied up in inventories. The inventory optimization function enables reductions in working capital by improving inventory target setting.
This position will be based out of Boise, ID. This role provides flexibility! You may work remotely two days per week.
As a Supply Chain Inventory Optimization Engineer, responsibilities include but are not limited to, the following:

  • Work on and coordinate projects in the domain of inventory optimization and operational planning.
  • Use your experience in inventory optimization and your common sense to translated customer needs into an inventory optimization solution that is closely linked to the operational planning and scheduling capabilities.
  • Develop and implement solutions to continuously improve the inventory optimization processes
  • Manage or participate in cross-functional, multi-department meetings to review inventory optimization changes
  • Evaluate new systems and processes, and conduct research, to provide innovative solutions to complex inventory situations
  • Ability to conduct and lead meetings to review inventory performance
  • Analyze demand, supply and shipments trends using statistical tools to see opportunities and risks to business revenue plan.
  • Create methodologies/automated process to analyze, supply, solve, and find root-cause for supply shortages by data mining planning systems.
  • Perform User Acceptance Testing of the system improvements to enable Information Technology to push the enhancements to the production environment.
  • Evaluate inventory mix to identify slow-moving, orphaned, overstocked, or quality hold inventories and collaborate with partners to develop appropriate actions to consume or scrap.


Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities, complemented with a university degree, are indispensable in this job. Preferably this education includes a further specialization in inventory optimization.
  • Strong capability in applying inventory algorithms in a real-life setting is a must. Preferably, you gained this knowledge by working in a multinational organization or consulting company. Having a strong affinity with IT and good project management skills are a prerequisite for this job.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Supply Chain planning processes, Supply Chain qualitative methods, and ERPs functions/architecture
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills
  • Strong analytical skills, with an emphasis on statistical analysis, data mining, and reporting
  • Excellent problem-solving skills. Must be able to identify and break down complex problems and develop quality solutions.
  • Ability to work independently and to manage multiple task assignments
  • Strong working knowledge of SQL, Stored Procedures, and either SQL Server or Oracle Database management
  • Willingness to travel


Desired:

  • Experience in the following:
  • Optimization, Demand Management, Operations Planning, Planning/Forecasting, Master Scheduling
  • APICS certification
  • Master's Degree/Bachelor or equivalent experience (preferred)
  • Industrial Engineering or Operations Research
  • Engineering - Manufacturing
  • Operations / Supply Chain Management
