Chewy is seeking a highly motivated, goal-oriented, dedicated Supplier Management and Continuous Improvement Expert to join our exciting and fast-paced Supply Chain team. This role will be travel intensive based on supplier assignments. Chewy is currently recruiting for a Supplier Performance Engineer to lead our Supplier Partnership Program. This continuous improvement leader will be part of the Chewy Vendor Compliance team and will focus on identifying opportunities to increase the efficacy and efficiency of existing processes as well as coordinate, support and facilitate the implementation of new and improved structure and processes around product inbound. You will work cross-functionally with our vendor partners, business, and technical teams to bring about improvement, create standards and deliver on goals and strategies. You will be capable of dealing with ambiguity and facilitating effective change management to move the business forward.

You must have excellent attention to detail, strong multi-tasking skills and the ability to prioritize competing demands. What you'll do:

  • Responsible for Supplier Surveillance
  • Work on-site at our key suppliers to identify process gaps and implement action plans that will result in improved supplier performance
  • Root cause defects, identify process and capability gaps and build standards to ensure seamless inventory flows to Chewy FCs
  • Partner with internal & external partners from Transportation, Scheduling, and Carrier teams to proactively address issues and achieve program goals
  • Develop and manage strong cross functional, strategic partnerships between the Supplier and Chewy
  • Develop an understanding of end-to-end production plans and partner with Inventory Planning, Quality Control, Program Directors, Transportation / Logistics, Systems and Warehouse Operations for improving efficiencies
  • Responsible for traveling to assigned Supplier locations which can vary in length and location

What you'll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience
  • Travel is required 90% of the time
  • At least 5 years of experience in Continuous Improvement, Supplier Quality, Manufacturing and Operations or a similar role
  • Experience with Logistics / Scheduling and Carrier management (including distribution, shipping schedules, and expediting)
  • Strong analytical background with demonstrated experience utilizing data to drive decisions. SQL skills preferred.
  • Expertise in the Microsoft Office Suite programs (Word, Power Point and Excel) 
  • Six-Sigma Black Belt
  • Expertise in C.I. methodology, Kaizen events, Gemba Walks and other process improvement methods to drive key KPIs in cost, delivery and quality
  • Proficient in process value stream mapping and ability to train others
  • Ability to lead through ambiguity and effectively execute in a fast paced, start-up environment
  • Experience with inventory management, order management and warehouse management systems and processes.
  • Seek-to-understand mentality and ability to lead peers to deliver on key business metrics. 
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills. Executive presence and ability to report out to all management levels.
  • Multi-lingual is a plus
