Primary Responsibilities

HDR is looking for a Substation Engineering Section Manager to join our growing and nationally ranked team of Power Delivery professionals in Florida. The primary duties of the Substation Engineering Section Manager include knowledge, leadership, and execution of technical aspects and deliverables for high voltage electrical substation projects up to 500kV. They must be an experienced, competent engineer who understands the technical requirements of substation projects of any complexity and can lead, guide, and advise clients, projects, and teams. On a day-to-day basis, they'll be expected to:
• Develop and implement a project execution plan for technical aspect of projects Assign project tasks and provide technical guidance to project team members
• Support technical aspects of scope, schedules, and budgets, including proposal development, work breakdown structure development and implementation, progress assessment, risk assessment/mitigation, change management, and schedule management
• Coordinate and/or perform quality checks and reviews for all project deliverables per HDR Quality Management Systems (QMS) requirements, processes, and procedures to deliver a world class quality product to the client
• Perform quality checks and/or reviews of projects from other teams on an as needed basis
• Work independently and possibly direct, mentor, train, and/or supervise one or more Project Engineers, EIT's, or Designers
• Work with senior engineers and technical leaders to identify and develop specific technical expertise and attend training/seminars focused on further development and understanding of complex concepts related to their discipline
• Possibly assist with developing technical papers and/or presentations that showcase HDR's technical capabilities at industry conferences or other events
• Participates in project reviews as needed

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering required

Minimum of 8 years of substation design experience, including both indoor and outdoor experience, required

Must be proficient with Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications

PE license preferred

Experience using industry design software preferred

Local candidates are preferred
