Team Submarine's Submarine Program Offices are responsible for:

The acquisition of the OHIO Class replacement and for identifying, assembling, managing, directing, and coordinating the resources required for the R&D, design, construction, Test and Evaluation (T&E) and Live Fire Test and Evaluation (LFT&E) of the COLUMBIA Class. The program is a major defense acquisition program and is of significant political importance with Congress and the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD).

The acquisition of New Construction Submarines and for identifying, assembling, managing, directing, and coordinating the resources required for the R&D, design, construction, Test and Evaluation (T&E), Live Fire Test and Evaluation (LFT&E), and Fleet introduction of the U.S. Navy's newest class of nuclear attack submarines. The program is a major defense acquisition program with a total life cycle cost of approximately $336B. Additionally, successful improvement of the Class' capabilities is of significant political importance with Congress and the Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD).

The SSN(X) Office is responsible for the acquisition and design of the future fast attack submarine and for identifying, assembling, managing, directing, and coordinating the resources required for the R&D, design, construction, Test and Evaluation (T&E) and Live Fire Test and Evaluation (LFT&E) of the future submarine. The future Attack Submarine will be designed to retain multi-mission capability and sustained combat presence in denied waters with a focus on greater speed, stealth, and horizontal payloads and salvo rates.

You must have an Active Secret clearance to be considered.

Serco supports the US Navy as a prime for their Team Submarine SHAPM contract supporting the acquisition of submarines. The Team Submarine concept unifies once diverse submarine-related activities into a single submarine-centric organization with the goal of eliminating traditional stovepipe structures and processes that created impediments and inefficiencies in the submarine research, development, acquisition, and maintenance communities. Team Submarine provides improved communication among the various offices that contribute to the overall success of the United States Submarine Force.

Serco-NA is seeking a motivated and experienced engineers to provide engineering and programmatic support to one of our US Navy customers in the Washington, DC area.

General Duties

  • Provide engineering and systems engineering support to the program office
  • Prepare and execute environmental documentation for exercises as it required by U.S law
  • Recommend course of action(s) for unexpected technical and programmatic issues related to RDT&E
  • Generate Acquisition documentation for Milestone Reviews
  • Perform technical planning, cost, schedule, risk, supportability and effectiveness analysis for total systems; analyses performed at concept, design, test, evaluation and operational phases
  • Review and develop analytical and technical input needed in order to evaluate documentation and development of briefs to ensure accurate, timely and essential information is proved to decision makers
  • Prepare Unclassified and Classified briefs for audiences up to and including the Flag level
  • Assist the Test and Evaluation Manager as required
  • Attend meetings and specified Program Integrated Product Teams (IPTs)
  • Set high personal standards for performance and conduct
  • Demonstrate ability to be a team player; work well with others; contribute positively to work/team environment while continually seek ways to enhance contribution to the team
  • Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Perform a variety of tasks with technical rigor and little or no supervision
  • Typically report to a systems integration team lead



Qualifications

Education and Required/Preferred Experience:

  • Required: A Secret clearance and U.S. Citizenship
  • Required: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or similar technical degree (Physics, Chem, etc.)
  • Desired: Master's in engineering or technical discipline
  • Required: 10 years of work experience
  • Required: MS Microsoft skills are essential, especially Excel and PowerPoint
  • Required: You must have the ability to work both in a team environment and independently, and often under short, multiple deadlines
  • Work experience in the Navy and specifically within Team Submarine or on-board submarines is a plus
