Structures Test Technician
Company Overview:
Relativity is the first and only company to automate aerospace manufacturing by integrating intelligent robotics, software, and proprietary metal 3D printing technology. Disrupting 60 years of aerospace, Relativity offers a radically simplified supply chain, building a rocket with 100x fewer parts in less than 60 days. Our long-term goal is to upgrade humanity’s industrial base on Earth and on Mars.
Team:
As part of the structures test team, you will support our mission of changing the way rockets are built and flown. The structures test team collaborates closely with our additive, manufacturing, test and design teams in an effort to validate large 3D printed structures and other complex rocket parts. As a Structures Test Technician, you will have the opportunity to learn about the revolutionary technology that Relativity is working to bring to market and support our mission to make humanity a multi-planetary species. You will help us to build world class test facilities, state of the art structural test stands, and qualify the primary structures of the world’s first 3D printed orbital class rockets.
What you need to know:
The structures test team is responsible for designing, building, and operating all of our structural test stands. Our Long Beach facility is nearly complete and our test stands are crushing it, quite literally. The flight hardware is beginning to pass through structural acceptance testing. As a test technician you will play a key role in the set up and integration work required for these tests as well as the fabrication of fixtures or new systems as requirements are realized. You will work closely with our test engineering team as we build this equipment and help to identify scrappy solutions to problems along the way in order to accelerate the completion of the work. You should bring a team player attitude with you and be willing to mentor others in your areas of expertise.
In order to be successful in this role, your skillsets should be diverse. Daily responsibilities could include metal fabrication, electrical installation and troubleshooting, hydraulic diagnostics, fluid system fabrication, lifting and rigging, welding, machine operation, and more. Relativity is committed to the growth of our employees knowledge and skillsets as we tackle new challenges, so don’t hesitate to apply if you feel that you may not check all the boxes. The most successful candidates have a “can do” attitude, are eager to learn, and ask tons of good questions along the way.
