Title: Staff Software Engineer
Onsite/Remote:Remote Position - with occasional visits a year to the Johnston office.

Your Responsibilities
As a Staff Software Engineer for John Deere located in Johnston, Iowa, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and coding end to end dealer facing retail financing solutions. In addition, you will:
- Evaluate, design, and implement solutions to improve cost, quality, and performance of software applications
- Collaborate with other relevant stakeholders and team members to collect requirements, describe software product features and technical designs
- Execute necessary documentation, as directed, or needed
- Follow industry-standard agile software design methodology for development and documentation.
What Skills You Need
Proven Technical Skills and Experiences
- 5+ Years of proven experience in the design, development, testing and integration of high complex software solutions leveraging change management processes.
- Advanced proficiency in one modern programming language or library (for example: JavaScript - Nodejs, etc.) (5+ years)
- Experience designing and developing service-based architecture and/or micro-services (5+ year)
- Experience designing data caching and persistence concepts using both SQL and NoSQL DBMS (for example: MySQL, DB2, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, DynamoDB, etc.) (5+ years)
- Experience with software test automation techniques (Test Driven Development) and framework (Junit, Mockito, Cucumber, Cypress,) (3+ years)
- Experience leveraging DevOps and lean development principles such as Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery/Deployment using tools like Git, Jenkins, AWS CodeBuild/CodeDeploy etc. (2+ years)
- Understanding of infrastructure as code using terraform or CloudFormation
- Working Knowledge of AWS services such as Lambda, Elastic Container Service, Elastic Kubernetes Service, API Gateway, etc. (2+ years)
- Proven experience working in an Agile/Scrum team environment
- Advanced understanding of design patterns

- Capable of collaborating with multiple business stakeholders and team members to provide information technology solutions

- Capable and vested in mentoring other software engineers.
What Makes You Stand Out
- Cloud Certification (AWS or Azure)
- Appetite for continuous learning and willingness/dedication to develop deep technical skills needed to further develop, transform, and modernize processes and solutions
- Experience designing and developing service-based architecture, micro-services, REST or GraphQL.
- Experience in API First design approach using OpenAPI specifications and/or Swagger
- Experience with industry-standard security protocols like OAuth2, OpenID Connect, SAML etc.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field
