As a Staff Software Engineer on our Enrollment SDK Team, you will join a platform team that builds and maintains Bestow's new TypeScript library. This library is already powering the next iteration of our direct-to-consumer and partner-facing enrollment clients. 

Insurance applications can have multiple question paths, and part of what helps Bestow offer insurance to a broad audience is updating those questions often. This team is taking lessons from our existing efforts to build a library leveraging functional programming patterns to give us flexibility and accelerate our future product launches.

ABOUT THE ROLE

• Build tools and frameworks that enable developers to maintain an excellent developer experience.
• Build new features and improve upon existing ones.
• Advocate for product quality, security, and performance improvements that have a particular impact across your team and others.
• Shepherd the definition and improvement of our internal standards for style, maintainability, and best practices for a high-scale web environment. Maintain and advocate for these standards through code review.
• Drive innovation on the team with a willingness to experiment and boldly confront immense complexity and scope problems.
• Work with Product Management, Design, and other stakeholders to iterate new features.
• Help improve the general experience of our product by improving the standard of the Front-end features.
• Help identify areas of improvement for the codebase and help make it better.

YOUR EXPERIENCE

• 7+ years working on server-side development in JavaScript/NodeJS or similar.
• Experience with TypeScript and functional programming paradigms is preferred.
• Experience writing automated tests (e.g., Jest, Karma, Jasmine, Mocha, React Testing Library, Cypress).
• You can communicate complex, architecturally concise, and organizational problems, and propose comprehensive iterative solutions.
• Mentor junior developers on best practices, design reviews, and technical design. Help them solve roadblocks.
• Experience designing and debugging APIs. 
• "Infrastructure as code" (terraform, etc.) experience is a plus.
• Experience with and passion for SCRUM Agile software development processes.
