Checkr is looking for an experienced Staff Software Engineer to join the Self-Service group, focusing on our developer experience for customers and partners. Our team's mission is to empower each and every developer to be successful learning, building, debugging, and scaling their integrations with Checkr products. As a developer yourself, you will get to be your own customer and contribute to the product direction, and make a massive impact..

Responsibilities:

  • Own the product development from ideation, design, implementation, to release
  • Partner with product in designing new features
  • Collaborate with the team in driving architecture and implementation of new products/features
  • Ensure the quality, reliability, and scalability of our services
  • Provide mentorship to more junior members of the team
  • Partner with product and engineering management in planning activities

What you bring:

  • 8+ years of experience as a software engineer building front-end JavaScript based applications and backend solutions. Experience with Ruby and ReactJS is desirable.
  • 3+ years experience in a project leadership role
  • Experience providing mentorship to junior engineers
  • A passion for optimizing services for scale and speed
  • Deep understanding of microservices design, REST APIs, and asynchronous queueing models
  • Strong collaboration, communication and project management skills
  • A strong sense of ownership
  • Experience spearheading adoption of best practice for the team to improve code quality and lead time
  • A great desire to learn, collaborate, improve, and innovate

*The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors.  In accordance with Colorado law, the base salary for this role if filled within Colorado is $160,000-$188,000.
