Engages with stakeholders across teams to lead the development and maintenance of backend services and solutions to support user-facing products, downstream services, or infrastructure tools and platforms used across Uber.
About the Team:
The IT Eng Cloud & Platform team supports the corporate Cloud environments, including AWS, GCP, and our Global Data Centers. We have built a Web application to manage the hybrid cloud environments, integrating with several teams' tools and services. We will continue to make enhancements and add new features to the app in 2022 and expand our public Cloud footprint to additional providers.
As a Staff Software Engineer on the IT Eng Cloud team, you will develop an Uber internal portal that manages a global hybrid cloud environment. You will have the opportunity to work with some of the latest cloud technologies, while also having exposure to the on-prem VMware environment and Docker/K8s/microservices ecosystem.
You will be key technical decisions related to our internally developed web application and will integrate new services into the platform. You will help ensure that the architecture and design conform to the product norms that you'll play a part in defining. You will have the opportunity to design and implement new features to support the platform growth and implement our product vision.
We work with a broad set of technologies, and we're looking for someone who is comfortable moving across the stack to deliver a quality product.
Minimum qualifications:

• PhD or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field AND 2-years full-time Software Engineering work experience OR 5-years full-time Software Engineering work experience, WHICH INCLUDES 3-years total technical software engineering experience in one or more of the following areas:
• Programming language (e.g. C, C++, Java, Python, or Go)
• Note the 3-years total of specialized software engineering experience may have been gained through education and full-time work experience, additional training, coursework, research, or similar (OR some combination of these). The years of specialized experience are not necessarily in addition to the years of Education & full-time work experience indicated.

Technical skills:
Required:

• Distributed systems
• Deep understanding of AWS infrastructure
• Strong Python and Javascript experience
• 3+ years of advanced AWS experience: EC2, S3, IAM, VPC, Lambda, EKS, ECS, CloudFront, RDS, DynamoDB, ALB/ELB, API Gateway integration (AWS Professional certification highly preferred)
• 2+ years working with Docker, containerization, microservices, ECS, or Kubernetes

Preferred:

• Experience designing and developing large-scale applications using NodeJS, React, Express platform
• GCP infrastructure as code

For Colorado-based roles: The salary/hourly rate range for this role is $172,125 per year - $191,250 per year. You will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award, commissions, & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
