We are looking for a Staff Platform Engineering Manager to lead and build our Platform Engineering team. In this role, you will report to the Director of Platform Engineering.
The Platform Engineering leader will be responsible for developing and maintaining Cloud operational best practices, DevOps standards, Release management, Cloud cost management, and Cloud adoption across the organization. Will manage the team, assign and monitor workflows, and maintain quality and efficiency. You will use your skills and leverage available resources to architect and build highly scalable solutions, automate, and continuously update our Cloud Infrastructure. Many of our applications are already on AWS, and we plan to migrate our remaining on-prem applications to AWS. We also have Azure for AD/DevOps (migrating to Github) and GCP for Data Warehousing.
We are looking for a technical leader who will not shy away from rolling up their sleeves and working alongside fellow team members if needed. This is a remote position.
What You’ll Do:
- Provide leadership and strategic direction for the CloudOps team. Provide coaching, guidance, training, and staff development.
- Develop, define and document CloudOps standards, best practices, governance, tools, procedures, and guidelines.
- Use automation and orchestration to drive technical innovation and efficiency in infrastructure operations.
- Develop, define and document DevOps standards, best practices, governance, tools, procedures, and guidelines.
- Manage AWS system performance and monitor for anomalies with NewRelic and Cloudwatch.
- Work with the Information Security team to develop and implement a comprehensive security strategy for Cloud.
- Conduct capacity planning analysis and cloud budget planning.
- Develop solutions to optimize usage and cost of AWS services.
- Lead On-Prem to AWS migration by evaluating existing services and partnering with other Engineering teams. Examples include publicly accessible websites with a SQL backend and On-Prem Kubernetes cluster.
- Automate environments with Terraform, AWS Cloudformation, and AWS CDK.
- Manage AWS system performance and monitor for anomalies with Datadog and Cloudwatch.
- Migrate On-Prem file server images, and manage and monitor AWS S3 usage.
- Manage organizational AWS accounts and resource sharing.
- Manage and monitor AWS IAM usage and security.
- Collaborate with DevOps, DBAs, and Software Engineering teams to solve problems.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest Cloud technology trends.
Who You Are:
- 5+ years experience with AWS
- 10+ years in technology with 5+ years of managerial experience
- Degree in a technical discipline or other disciplines with equivalent technical experience
- AWS Certified Solution Architect Professional preferred.
- Hands-on experience in these AWS services: S3, VPC, RDS, OpenSearch, Cloudfront, Lambda, ELB, & ECS, EKS or Fargate.
- Experience with “Infrastructure as Code” (IaC) tools, such as Terraform, AWS Cloudformation, AWS CDK.
- Experience with containers, orchestration tools, and container management.
- Experience with automation and scripting
- Experience with Linux & Windows server OS
- Experience with On-Prem infrastructure
- Knowledge of the Microsoft .NET/IIS/SQL web hosting technology stack
- Knowledge of DevOps process desirable
- Knowledge of Cybersecurity best practices
- Collaborative team spirit and problem solving attitude

Salary Range: The salary range for this position is $169,248 to $274,779. Actual compensation on this range varies based on a variety of non-discriminatory factors, including location, job level, prior experience, and skill set.
