Minimum Qualifications:• Bachelor's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field and 4+ years of chip-level Failure Analysis (e.g., physical failure analysis, electrical microscopy, nanoprobing) or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Science, Engineering, or related field and 3+ years of chip-level Failure Analysis (e.g., physical failure analysis, electrical microscopy, nanoprobing) or related work experience.
OR
PhD in Science, Engineering, or related field and 2+ years of chip-level Failure Analysis (e.g., physical failure analysis, electrical microscopy, nanoprobing) or related work experience.
• 3+ years working in a physical/chemical laboratory setting.

Physical Requirements:• Frequently transports and installs equipment up to 25 lbs.

Preferred Qualifications:• 8+ years chip-level Failure Analysis (e.g., physical failure analysis, electrical microscopy, nanoprobing) experience or related work experience.• 1+ years of work experience in a role requiring interaction with senior leadership (e.g., Director level and above).• 1+ years in a technical leadership role with or without direct reports (only applies to positions with direct reports).

Principal Duties and Responsibilities: • Performs failure analyses on highly advanced and complicated issues (e.g., level 3) using deep knowledge of products and processes, extreme patience, and creative problem solving.• Applies a highly advanced knowledge in one or more areas of failure analysis (e.g., physical failure analysis, electrical microscopy, nanoprobing, etc.) to solve problems; identifies industry trends and shares techniques with teams.• Performs physical failure analyses on both systemic and isolated issues by examining individual layers of silicon to reveal evidence of defect, and provides recommendations on how to resolve the issue.• Conducts highly advanced and complex electrical fault isolation analyses to localize 'hot spots' and isolate location of defect, and demonstrates advanced technology and usage to others.• Guides others in the administration of non-destructive testing on devices using imaging tools (e.g., X-ray, C-SAM) and/or optical inspections.• Writes papers and publications documenting new approaches to failure analysis.• Communicates results of failure analysis to requesters, provides advice on resolving issues, and answers questions.• Reviews incoming failure analysis requests, determines type of analyses and resources needed, and guides teams in the completion of appropriate analyses.• Acts as the case owner for multiple complicated cases requiring cross-functional coordination; balances and prioritizes multiple complex cases and oversees the work of case owners at the engineer and/or senior engineer level.• Encourages others to think creatively about ways to improve processes and identify failure issues, and proposes innovative methods for identifying and/or preventing defects.• Coordinates with partners in other teams (e.g., design team, product team) to share device and/or customer issues, push plans forward, and develop mutually beneficial solutions.

Level of Responsibility: • Working independently with little supervision.• Making decisions that are moderate in impact; errors may have financial impact or effect on projects, operations, or customer relationships; errors may require involvement beyond immediate work group to correct. • Using verbal and written communication skills to convey complex and/or detailed information to multiple individuals/audiences with differing knowledge levels.
