We are looking for a Staff Engineer to serve as an Architect for our Platform Services teams, these two teams focus on financial services and core platform services. The ideal candidate for this role has extensive experience building complex systems both functionally and architecturally. They should be skilled in communicating and collaborating across multiple teams and departments with an open, inclusive, and pragmatic collaboration style.

This role reports to the VP of Engineering.

What you will be doing:

• Developing and communicating the technical roadmap to have all of Greenlight’s lines of business utilizing the core Platform Services
• Coordinating with stakeholders and engineering managers as needed to prioritize and schedule Platform Services roadmap work alongside shorter-term needs those stakeholders have
• Identifying new opportunities for a Platform Services team to accelerate Engineering efforts by applying existing tooling or services or by creating new tooling or services
• Working with other Staff Engineers across the organization to advance the larger objectives of Greenlight Engineering however needed
• Serving as a technical unblocker-in-chief for the Platform Services teams, and ensuring that wherever possible you’re removing roadblocks to their productivity
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering teams- primarily the platform services teams

What you should bring:

• Extensive experience working within a large scale development environment
• Experience designing and implementing application architectures that are scalable, available, maintainable and performant
• Significant coding experience, database experience, and cloud experience (ideally AWS)
• Overall knowledge at multiple layers of a development stack. This role will be focused primarily on application services code
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
