Staff Engineer, Analytics Application Engineering

Overview

You will be responsible for evolving our applications and cloud data platform and building solutions that are scalable, robust and resilient and support business rule processing of healthcare data. You will provide leadership in big data, cloud and BI technologies. You are an independent and resourceful engineer with advanced design and problem-solving skills, demonstrated competency in building enterprise and cloud products, and you enjoy working in diverse and fast paced engineering teams. You will be working with business owners, engineering teams, architects and other leaders to ensure our business solutions are built with high performance, availability, and maintainability standards using current and emerging cloud data technologies.

What are the duties and responsibilities in this job?

  • Provide thought leadership to the business and technology organization to influence improved agility and deeper understanding of the business intelligence capabilities
  • Develop a deep understanding of the business domain and enterprise data assets to support BI solutions that enables business insights
  • Provide technical acumen and guidance to projects, teams and work with data architect to ensure that logical and physical data models support the analytic needs of the business.
  • Ensure industry best practices around data and metadata management, data quality, data governance, BI reporting and data privacy and keep abreast with latest technologies and trends
  • Ensure performance, uptime, and scale, maintaining high standards of code quality and thoughtful design
  • Partner with Product Management and Business leaders to drive Agile delivery of both existing and new offerings and support technology and data infrastructure needs
  • Initiate proof of concepts (POCs) and prototypes to demonstrate recommendations and to test theories.
  • Lead and grow teams and cultivate the 'data driven' and 'bias for action' mindset.



What are the requirements needed for this position?

  • 6+ years of recent experience in Big Data and Analytics.
  • 3+ years of experience with cloud technologies (AWS/Azure/Google)
  • Understanding of database and analytical technologies in the industry including MPP and NoSQL databases, data warehouse design, and experience with open source data stores like druid, postgres, Cassandra
  • Must have extensive demonstratable experience providing end to end technical solutions within a large Business Intelligence/Data Warehousing environment.
  • Hands on working knowledge of various data modeling techniques
  • Proven track record of building scaled data platforms and enterprise products, working in large engineering teams
  • Strong backend programming skills for data processing, with practical knowledge of availability, scalability, clustering, microservices, multi-threaded development and performance patterns.
  • Prior experience with healthcare data required, experience in healthcare quality and/or risk data a plus
  • Excellent written, verbal and listening communication skills
  • BS or MS in Computer Science or Engineering and 10+ years of software development experience
  • Experience with Data Science and Machine Learning tools and services a plus
