This position may be performed remotely anywhere within the United States except for the State of Colorado, Alaska, North Dakota, or South Dakota.

Overview:

This role is vital to the successful implementation and management of our cloud initiatives in support of production and post-production environments across diverse product platforms. You will leverage your systems (servers, storage and networks) implementation and administration experience to envision, enable, accelerate, automate, and measure various cloud deployments. You will play a key role in creating dynamic, secure, high performance, and highly available cloud environments that will provide scale and flexibility to various engineering organizations. Your enterprise Linux/Windows systems management expertise, attention to detail, ability to solve problems and willingness to adapt to new challenges in a fast-paced environment are core traits for success in this role.

Responsibilities:

  • Handle automated software application deployments to production and post-production environments.
  • Provide escalated and second level infrastructure support to applications running in production.
  • Develop automated gathering and reporting of metrics that provide insight into the efficient functioning of AWS cloud infrastructure assets.
  • Proactively investigate production environments to highlight risks, redundant costs and provide solution approaches.
  • Contribute to operational standards that improve the effectiveness of the team and improve predictability and transparency to all stakeholders.
  • Proactively suggest best practices in initiatives and daily operational tasks that effectively address audit and compliance deliverables of cloud operations organization.
  • Continuously learn and contribute to the body of knowledge around cloud deployments and administration, in order to enhance readiness and skill level of the team.
  • Manage multiple AWS services, e.g. EC2, VPC, RDS, S3, IAM, ELB - create, consult, and train software development teams in standard processes and tools.
  • Programmatically automate routine cloud deployment, administration, and monitoring tasks using shell scripts, AWS CLI, AWS CloudFormation, and other automation and presentation frameworks.
  • Prior exposure to AWS Networking, Control Tower and Service Catalog highly desirable.
  • Collaborate with IT Network and Security organizations to address audit compliance while enabling a highly secure yet flexible operating environment.
  • Enhance production environment monitoring to alert application and infrastructure teams of potential vulnerabilities and failure scenarios.
  • Research industry best practices in cloud based deployment and administration; propose new tools and processes to further enhance the Cloud Ops team.



Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of enterprise systems implementation and administration experience in Linux and/or Windows servers with at least 5 years of public or private cloud deployment.
  • 5+ years of experience in AWS cloud configuration and deployment automation using AWS CLI, SDK, API, CloudFormation, Containers design and deployment using ECS/EKS, AWS Service Catalog.
  • Significant past experience in scripting routine administration tasks, e.g. automated provisioning, monitoring and alert handling, internal performance and cost reporting.
  • Strong technical knowledge of network protocols and security considerations.
  • Prior experience in hands-on troubleshooting of complex systems problems.
  • A team player - ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams.
  • Proven self-starter with track record of managing multiple complex tasks.
  • Excellent communicator - verbal and written skills required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent work experience.
