About the Team:
The Business Applications team's mission is to empower Uber's staff to be more productive and successful through our technical solutions, service delivery and innovation. Our team implement and support systems for sales compensation for Uber Eat, U4B & Uber Freight. Our team invests in innovation, new business line expansion and integration with external and internal systems.
About the Role
As a Systems Engineer on the Business Experience Team, you will be responsible for requirements definition, low-level design, building, testing, deploying, and hyper-care support on complex, high-impact cross-functional projects that deliver value to our Sales and IT Engineering teams. You will partner with folks outside Customer Experience team to measure and pay sales reps and managers, account managers, team leaders, and segment heads using Uber's Sales and Sales Compensation systems.
What the Candidate Will Do

  • Partner with Sales Systems and Operations, Compensation, HR, Legal, Payroll, Product, and other Engineering teams to translate requirements into technical designs
  • Collaborate and coordinate with internal and external business partners in developing or enhancing systems, processes, and procedures
  • Adhere to and improve upon rigorous documentation and DevOps processes
  • Review the current system architecture to identify gaps, areas for increased efficiency or redundancies and recommend solutions/improvements
  • Support the management, development, ongoing maintenance, and technical support of the Sales Compensation system and other ancillary applications that integrate to support all Sales Compensation business functions
  • Become a subject matter expert in all things related to Sales Compensation at Uber


Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience working with and building Sales Compensation systems in a professional, fast-paced environment
  • Sales Compensation implementation experience (having completed at least 3 projects)
  • Analytical approach to solving system issues including understanding system interdependencies
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong business relationship and partnership skills and experience
  • Proven ability to successfully juggle multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Strong sense of urgency and excellent follow-through
  • A scrappy, get stuff done attitude that completes high-quality projects quickly


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with the Xactly product suite or competitive product suites highly desirable (ie, SAP CallidusCloud, IBM Varicent, Anaplan, Optymyze)
  • A current Xactly Incent certification (e.g. Incent Level 3 certification)
  • Xactly Incent platform development experience
  • Experience querying traditional SQL RDBMS (Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, DB2, HyperSQL, SalesForce, SQLite, etc.)
  • Experience with spreadsheets (MS Excel, Google Sheets, etc.)
  • Experience running reports from and working with HR systems data
