Job Description:

Parsons is hiring a Senior Systems Engineer to support the Missile Defense Agency's (MDA) Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) United Arab Emirates (UAE) Foreign Military Sales (FMS) Project Office as a technical advisor and subject matter expert. In this role, the successful candidate will:

  • Support the THU Program Manager and the Deputy Program Manager's ongoing efforts to support the Foreign Liaison Officer (FLO) coordination of interceptor production, sustainment, and the replacement of any weapon systems' major components either due to failure or obsolescence.
  • Production and sustainment activities include participating in weekly Integrated Product Team (IPT) meetings, oversight of activities, participating in Technical Interchange Meetings (TIMs), Working Groups, Staff call and performing Technical Evaluations of proposals, plans, schedules, and performance. Activities include but are not limited to requirement reviews, component replacement evaluations, and/or analysis/selection of existing alternatives for the weapon systems batteries, communications, seeker, and guidance systems with the goal of improved weapon system performance and sustainment.
  • Provide the THU PM and Deputy PM with assigned issue resolution progress and status
  • Review and/or provide schedule, capabilities, test deliveries, hardware configurations/modernization, ground development risk and opportunity, inventory, obsolescence, sustainment planning and procedures; assess compliance with Government requirements and directives when requested
  • Assist the THU PM and Deputy PM as needed to coordinate meetings, facilitate various types of review investigations, WG's and TIM's; record action items and provide executive summaries and meeting minutes
  • Participate, provide information and/or input to teleconferences or meetings as directed by the Government customer (e.g. weekly staff call meetings, and other regularly scheduled meetings)
  • Observe key manufacturing and test activities performed on-site or other locations as needed
  • Coordinate with functional areas (Acquisition, Contracting, FMS Support, Financial Quality, and Logistics) to support requirements
  • Assist with program initiatives, become the program POC at the Prime Contractor location for assigned activities when needed


* Travel as required to other locations possible up to 10% of the time

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelors degree with 20+ years relevant experience OR Masters degree with 12+ years of related experience in the area of weapon systems .
  • Active Secret clearance or higher



Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Understanding and application of sound engineering principles related to component design, interoperability, failure investigation, and risk mitigation
  • Experienced in working in a high intensity environment with minimal supervision but also able to coordinate activities with other functional areas
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to include creation and presentation of briefing materials
  • Strong computer skills with working knowledge of MS office suite of tools.
