Salary Range

  • $100k to $125k (no bonus offered)


As a Senior Systems DevOps Administrator (Lead) on our Technology Team, you will help us support and innovate the infrastructure and platforms that support our web sites and media operations for major companies. We firmly believe in the DevOps mentality and are looking for System Administrators who not only want to build platforms, but also the tooling and systems that allow us to efficiently test and operate them. You can expect to be hands-on in supporting and debugging our systems, and you will also need to understand how our systems are used to ensure we build what the business needs. We are distributed globally and operate as a remote-first team. As with all our team members, you’ll be afforded the opportunity to continuously learn, and to practice sharing that expertise with other team members in a variety of structured and informal teaching forums.

Responsibilities:

Building, Delivering, and Operating Our Platforms

  • Design, build, and deploy scalable cloud-based systems that are consistently monitored for performance, security, and cost
  • Offer mentorship and guidance for best-in-class design and implementation
  • Maintain both customer-facing and internal systems while working across teams to make the most appropriate decisions to support the business.
  • Ensure the highest levels of stack stability, availability, and performance via automation and monitoring
  • Although we strive to keep work within regular hours, there will be occasional off-hours work to support the needs of the business

Communicating Inside/Outside the Team

  • Communicate with Technology Team members to facilitate implementation of your work
  • Present materials that help advance and inform the team
  • Be comfortable promoting infrastructure designs and needs across the company
  • Be a strong voice to communicate this guidance across the company

Leading by Example

  • Work with fellow engineers to cover knowledge gaps and identify solutions to problems
  • Demonstrate and model proactive and thoughtful identification of issues and opportunities for technical improvements
  • Being the go-to person for infrastructure ownership

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  •  A minimum of five years of experience related to cloud and/or systems administration demonstrating successful implementation and support of business-critical consumer facing applications.
  • Intensive knowledge of and a preference towards the Unix (Linux, FreeBSD, OS X) operating system and be comfortable with cloud-based infrastructure concepts.
  • Working knowledge of a scripting language such as Bash, Ruby, or Python
  • Well versed in cloud-based infrastructure (AWS preferred, or Azure or Google Cloud)
  • Ability to think deeply about issues affecting infrastructure and all interacting systems, design appropriate solutions and communicate those solutions

Preferred:

  • Knowledge of systems monitoring, capacity planning, and performance tuning concepts and tooling
  • Experience working with containerization technologies (Kubernetes, Docker, etc.)
  • Software development experience
