The Senior Software V&V Engineer for Beckman Coulter Diagnostics is responsible to test software for our Rapid Data Manager (RDM) web application. The RDM software manages the lifetime of RAPID test definition documents for the next generation instruments. The RDM software will be expanded to manage the lifetime of APF test definition documents for the current generation instruments. The system provides a centrally managed data store and retrieval interface which can be interacted with via a normal web browser or any application that has been built to interact with the public REST API. The RDM software is a complex code base with established technologies of C#, ASP.NET and Entity Framework developed in Windows. We use Agile/Scrum to collaborate effectively and respond rapidly to change. This role has high visibility to management and vitally important to managing test definition documents for a >$1 Billion product line and critically important for the doctors and patients who rely on our instruments for medical decisions. For this RDM software you will be testing the user interface and backend providing a tool for assay developers to maintain and create new blood tests used around the world and ultimately the diagnostic decision delivered to the doctor.

This position is part of the Immunoassay Development Group located in Chaska, MN. Beckman Coulter specializes in lab automation to improve the efficiency, cost, and accuracy of a medical laboratory. Beckman Coulter has a Hybrid working model with the flexibility to structure your work from home as well as in the office; however, we are able to offer fully remote as an option.

You will be a part of the Immunoassay Menu Management Software Team and report to the Software Engineering Manager of Immunoassay Menu Management Software supporting both Next Generation product DxI 9000 and Legacy products, Access 2 and DxI 800. In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Participate on an agile scrum team
  • Analyze and write requirements to support the design
  • Participate in product software, test design and code inspections (with a strong voice to ensure automated testability is considered and proper unit testing has been accomplished)
  • Create and support, using your strong software development skills, automated tests that work both in a simulated environment and in a real-world instrument
  • Produce high quality records of test results that allow clear communication of evidence of product quality
  • Work independently and as a team member (yep, the two ways you could work we need them both)
  • Participate in technical decisions affecting the web application user experience


The essential requirements of the job include:

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or equivalent with 5+ years of experience, or Master of Science in Computer Science or equivalent with 3+ years of experience
  • 2+ years' experience working with an automated test framework to build tests, execute them and debug failures resulting from their execution
  • Experience testing web applications using ASP.NET, Entity Framework, JavaScript, HTML, CSS and REST APIs
  • Experience writing (test, tools or product) software using object-oriented programming languages like C# or Java
  • Critical thinker with experience troubleshooting software defects and getting to root cause


It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

  • Testing software with SQL, MVC design patterns, JavaScript (jQuery, ajax), IIS Configuration, Razor templates, Bootstrap
  • Azure DevOps, Jira or equivalent modern framework
  • Testing software in a medical device or regulated environment
