Disney Streaming (DS) is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the PlayIO team. This role would be working within the Playback Services organization.
PlayIO sits at the heart of many different systems and organizations across DSS. As such, many of our systems are considered critical-path to the overall user experience (user state management, playback URL generation/gating, stream concurrency detection/enforcement, resume watching, playback analytics) and need to be highly available, resilient and performant under high throughput.

Technologies include Java, Scala, and AWS (ECS, Kinesis, SNS, Lambda, Dynamo, Elasticsearch, and others). Experience in these areas is preferred but not required.
Basic Qualifications :

• You work diligently with stakeholders such as project and product management to suss out requirements to provide technical solutions and direction.
• You are comfortable with ambiguity and be part of conversations where discordant views are present.
• You have an excellent understanding of software development fundamentals and architecture, and you aren't dogmatic about technology choices.
• You have experience mentoring and coaching more junior engineers on both technical and soft skills.
• You preferably have knowledge/experience with web technologies and web systems architecture
• You preferably have working knowledge of Java, Scala, and associated technologies.
• You preferably have knowledge/experience with AWS products and services (EC2, S3, Lambda, DynamoDB, SQS, RDS, ElastiCache, CloudFront, etc.) or other cloud providers.
