Partners with stakeholders and leads team efforts to build and maintain backend services and solutions to support user-facing products, downstream services, or infrastructure tools and platforms used across Uber.
About the Team:
The Insurance Engineering team's mission is to build Uber's core insurance products that provide our drivers and riders with peace of mind while using the platform, and also providing cost-effective insurance solutions for the business. The team is responsible for building and maintaining Uber's event-based claim processing platform, driver and rider crash reporting, creating an insurance marketplace that offers drivers with additional insurance coverage, vendor integration, and insurance fraud monitoring.
Minimum qualifications:
• PhD or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field OR 3-years full-time Software Engineering work experience, WHICH INCLUDES 2-years total technical software engineering experience in one or more of the following areas:• Programming language (e.g. C, C++, Java, Python, or Go)• Note the 2-years total of specialized software engineering experience may have been gained through education and full-time work experience, additional training, coursework, research, or similar (OR some combination of these). The years of specialized experience are not necessarily in addition to the years of Education & full-time work experience indicated.

Preferred:
• Product engineering• Scalability engineering• Distributed systems

For Colorado-based roles: The salary/hourly rate range for this role is $145,350 per year - $161,500 per year. You will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award, commissions, & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
