Sr Software Engineer

The Digital Experience organization is responsible for understanding and innovating new ways of working, having a broad focus on employee experience, and applying user experience principles across the digital landscape. Engineering is responsible for the design, integration, quality, and security of services that positively impact the daily employee experience, such as Workplace Technology and Devices, Messaging and Collaboration, Unified Communications and Experiences, custom solution/application development, and business intelligence, data, and analytics.
This role is a key contributor to the Digital Experience team and is critical to the success of the Workplace Technology and Devices service tower. The Workplace Technology and Devices services towers are the life-blood of device management at TWDC encompassing Software Management, Device Hardware and Asset Management, Workplace Virtualization, Configuration/Systems Management, Technology Modernization, and more. It is expected this role will operate with general guidance from the team manager and is expected to perform the role with minimal direction for daily tasks. The Senior Software Engineer, while not having a direct reporting relationship with suppliers, provides technical oversight to a team of up to 20+ supplier personnel during enterprise-level integration efforts (M&As, product replacements/upgrades, etc). This requires the person in the role to be able to influence without authority. In addition, this role also assists Operational and Service Delivery teams in a level-4 capacity in the event of major outages which cannot be resolved by the supplier or vendors.
Responsible for the design, integration, and implementation of Digital Experience (DX) solutions across the enterprise as a key contributor on the DX team. This includes the creation and maintenance of solution and technical design documents, as well as the lead/coordinator to deliver the technical integration and implementation of Digital Experience products and services.
Defines / maintains all aspects of the engineering process including service/product technical evaluation process, lab testing, and service solution design. Works closely with the DX Engineering Manager to ensure alignment with Enterprise Technology strategies, standards, and policies.
Oversees and coordinates project timelines for engineering activities and Disney resources to ensure requirements are understood, dependencies are defined, and the engineered solution is documented and refined to be developed into a future offering. This includes closely coordinating with other teams who are responsible for supporting services including insourced, outsourced, and vendor-managed teams. This role is also responsible for ensuring a high level of satisfaction with engineered services.
Recommend and design solutions to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of solution architecture and engineering to further enhance support capabilities, documentation, and reporting.
Contributes to the solution engineering design and integration for DX products and services. This includes:• Communicating, project tracking, and status reporting/dashboard to leadership.• Evaluates capabilities of services/products and design solutions to deliver future service offerings through detailed technical analysis.• Provides feedback on engineered designs and adapts to accommodate environmental conditions• Follows structured methodologies for technical analysis of products and solutions.• Establishes close relationships with and provides oversight of vendor and supplier partners• Maintains strong knowledge of emerging technologies and trends• Develops scripts, utilities, and applications to aid in automation and operations of a product service
Service Management• Oversees the definition and updating of functional requirements and includes in engineering analysis• Key contributor for the definition and documentation of processes and procedures for engineering services based on Digital Experience architectural frameworks• Develops and maintains a capacity and performance forecast
Project Oversight and Coordination• Provides technical oversight for projects and ensures a standard technical methodology is used to meet budget, scope, and schedule goals• Ensures that technical project coordination, milestones, and deliverables are met• Oversees and approves technical aspects of change management process• Reviews Disney Project Authorization Request's (PAR) and Technical Solution Documents (TSDs) to assess the technical impact of services
Education
BS or BA degree in Information Technology or Business related field or equivalent proved work experience
Work Experience• 10+ years of progressive experience in an IT-related field• 7+ years of demonstrated experience designing complex enterprise-level Workplace Technology and Devices platforms with an emphasis on VMware WorkSpace One, Airwatch, JAMF, SCCM, MS Intune, and corresponding security controls required to manage and provide governance for these platforms.
Specific knowledge of these areas of Workplace Technology and Devices required• Consult, design, and document changes to VMware WorkSpace ONE (Airwatch) MDM environment• Expertise with multiple MDM platforms specifically VMWare Workspace ONE (AirWatch) and Microsoft Intune to support iOS and Android devices• Extensive knowledge of mobile (Apple and Android) equipment design, mobile solutions architecture, and mobile device management platforms• Familiar with VMWare Airwatch Rugged device management such as Zebra Technology and Honeywell devices• Ability to consolidate several MDM platforms to reduce complexity and costs• Determine hardware, software, and resource requirements to implement and upgrade MDM environments based on current and forecasted requirements• Knowledge of JAMF, SCCM, Intune and Azure Active Directory• 5+ years of demonstrated experience designing and integrating mobile and MDM solutions• 5+ years of Application / Software Deployment Management using standard packaging and deployment tools management both on-premise and in the cloud• 5+ years of experience in application compatibilities and integrating dissimilar applications to a common platform• 5+ years experience in an engineering capacity in an enterprise IT department.• 3+ years experience in project management of large IT initiatives• 3+ years of experience working with suppliers in an outsourced environment
