Sr. Software Engineer - SDV
Description
Here at GM, the Software Defined Vehicle (SDV) team supports the definition, design, and development of continuously improving mobility services. SDV is a new vehicle intelligence platform that will underpin all our future innovations across a wide range of technological advancements, including EVs (Electric Vehicles) and expanded automated driving. This means that you can potentially put a fingerprint on the vehicles that drive down the road! Within the Software Defined Vehicle, GM is developing the next generation of embedded platform software to deliver innovative Infotainment features on the Ultifi platform.
The infotainment diagnostic software manages messages across the radio and vehicle platforms using development tools in Java and C++ on Android and QNX platforms. As a Diagnostics Senior Software Engineer, you will work on SOC (System on Chip) Diagnostics software platform development, Diagnostics Commands implementations, OTA (Over the Air), Programming Interfaces development, GM Manufacturing plant communication and coordination and provide software debug support when needed. You will also be working on developing, testing, and releasing software components that handle Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTCs), Diagnostic Command IDs (DIDs), Routine control Identifiers (RIDs).
The Role:
- Design, develop, and document functionality and enhancements for GM Infotainment system's software which will involve software development for SOC diagnostics software platform, Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTCs), Diagnostic Command IDs (DIDs), Input Output control IDs (IOCIDs), Routine IDs (RID)
- Lead various technical aspects and collaborate with Product Owners and internal and external partners to help plan and prioritize features, understand program expectations, and identify risks
- Participate in a variety of software and ECU (Electronic Control Unit) testing including unit testing, integration testing, bench end to end testing, end of line tests and in-vehicle tests at various GM locations
- Design, develop and test entire sequence and update ECUs (Electronic Control Unit).
- Deliver quality software by involving in architecture, requirements, design, code, and test case reviews
- Lead the technical discussions and proactively work on mitigating risks on delivery timelines and quality of overall software
- Work with System Architects and System Engineers to develop and clarify requirements
Additional Description Required Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related degree
- 2+ years in designing and developing system level software
- Excellent programming and debugging skills with C++, Java, Python
- Understanding on unit test framework such as Junit test, Googletest Mocking (gMock)
- Familiar with Scrum/Agile software development framework
- Proficient in coding embedded applications in Java and/or C++ on Android/QNX.
Preferred Skills:
- Advanced degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related degree
- 7+ years in designing and developing system level software
- Previous experience on Git, Gerrit, Jenkins, Jira, Vehicle Spy, Vector Canoe, Android Studio
