RxClaim is Optum Rx's pharmacy claim adjudication platform and is undergoing technology transformation and modernization. As part of the PBM Services and Software Engineering team, the senior software engineer will be contributing to creation of our RxClaim Next Generation solutions which serve more than 2 billion claim transactions and 60 million members per year.
This resource will assist in the development of multiple user interfaces, backend services, APIs, and potential batch load solutions being built/transformed for hosting on cloud infrastructure across multiple network zones and multiple data centers.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design, documentation and coding, creation of automated unit tests, participation in user story/requirements refinement, development and delivery using continuous improvement/continuous delivery (CI/CD) software engineering principles
  • Design and develop authentication and authorization solutions for application services
  • Actively participate in the full SDLC, including analysis, design, development, code reviews, testing and deployment
  • Contribute to the creation of user stories for component/module/simple requirements
  • Take initiative to learn the fundamentals of different coding languages and frameworks that would be useful if adopted by the team
  • Partner with product management and engineering leadership to bring creative technology and solutions to help solve healthcare problems
  • Mentor and guide other software engineers within the team
  • Design, Write and Test high-quality, fault-tolerant API code
  • Build high-scale systems, libraries, and frameworks to support various business domains

Required Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of experience in standard Web Development technologies (HTML/CSS/JS)
  • 3+ years of experience with Java, Spring Framework and Hibernate
  • 2+ years of experience with Angular or React for frontend development
  • 1+ years of experience using RESTful APIs and asynchronous JS
  • Experience with relational databases (MySQL, Oracle, DB2)


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as Jenkins
  • Experience using OpenAPI/Swagger to define and implement application interfaces
  • Experience with NoSQL databases
  • Experience with containerization tools, such as Docker and Kubernetes
  • Familiar with authorization frameworks like OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect
  • Excellent communication skills, with both technical and non-technical colleagues

Colorado, Connecticut, Nevada, or New York City Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $82,100 to $146,900. The salary range for Connecticut/Nevada/New York City residents is $90,500 to $161,600. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
