Role overview

The Sr Software Engineer, reporting to the Distinguished Engineer, will work on desigining and building highly scalable applications with modern user interfaces delighting our customers and users. This role will work closely with internal and external partners to ensure the successful delivery of Accolade’s technology roadmap, customer commitments and delivering those all the way to the end customers. This role requires ingenuity in finding quick solutions to problems to bias towards results, and with an eye towards the long run at all times. The Sr Software Engineer also plays an auxiliary role as an expert consultant to software developers company-wide, who seek senior technical staff guidance and best practices

A day in the life…

  • Work directly with stakeholders and define the scope and requirements of entire area of features and functions that may have varying levels of complexity.
  • Manage and execute entire projects or components of large projects from start to finish in an agile environment proposing innovative solutions
  • Proficiently move up and down in the tech stack to build Rest APIs, web applications, User Interfaces/Workflows.
  • Always willing to roll up sleeves, learn, communicate, analyze, and drive initiatives forward.
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively in the areas of technical ownership
  • Responsible for meeting expectations and deliverables on time with high quality for team and as an individual.
  • Coach, mentor and develop other technical leaders and engineers

Qualifications

What we are looking for…

  • 5+ years of experience in designing, developing distributed service-oriented systems with Java or Python
  • Minimum of 5 years of web and application development experience in React, or similar framework
  • Solid understanding of backend storage technologies such as NoSQL(DynamoDB), Elastric Search, Relational Databases(AWS Aurora)
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams
  • Experience in building and working in a highly agile, collaborative, innovative, flexible environment.
  • Experience in Healthcare especially with HIPAA compliance system is preferred
  • An excellent engineer with a “can-do” attitude
  • Hands-on, detail-oriented, methodical & inquisitive
  • A motivated self-starter with a solid level of experience that quickly grasps complex challenges
  • A skillful communicator with experience working with technical management teams
  • A strong customer focus and metrics driven
  • Fantastic collaborator, team player, negotiator, and influence
  • Fast fail entrepreneurial and innovative spirit
  • Thrives in a fast-paced environment where continuous improvement is the norm and the bar for quality is extremely high
  • Excited by the challenges of working in a product team undergoing rapid growth serving millions of customers
