This software engineering position is within the Simulation Solutions & Services (SS&S) business area. SS&S develops and builds simulators and training systems for both military and commercial customers. Devices range in complexity from desktop training all the way up to high-fidelity weapon systems and full-flight training systems including full visual motion and simulator interoperability

In this position, you will become a member of a team of highly skilled software engineers focused on the design, implementation, and testing of complex multi-platform visual product software to support a diverse set of training systems ranging from virtual reality immersive training to full flight training with motion-based platforms. This position requires a highly motivated self-starter who can learn quickly and can tackle complex problems and lead limited development activities. Candidates who enjoy solving challenging problems and pushing the boundaries of visual systems and graphics software are strongly encouraged to apply! The ability to work on the graphics hardware requires some on-site presence and therefore proximity to the Orlando office will be necessary.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Apply knowledge: Product domain, Requirements, Design, Development, Test and Release software processes, tools, methods ,and coding best practices with primary emphasis on software design and development.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of how to incorporate the appropriate Collins Aerospace processes and tools into product development, resulting in increased product quality and improved customer satisfaction.
  • Design, code, integrate, regression test, test and document software in areas such as: software problem reports, change requests, software components, and software test scripts.
  • Perform software debugging using appropriate techniques and tools.
  • Performs cross-functional team efforts in integration, verification and validation for products and sub-systems.
  • Provides engineering estimates for own work on tasks similar to those previously performed.
  • Contribute to software engineering requirements capture, analysis and creation for well-defined software designs.
  • Work in a team environment as well as be a self-starter and driven to succeed with minimal oversight.
  • Individual job duties may vary.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Experience with C++
  • Bachelor's degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations OR
  • Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience OR
  • In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidates selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in the simulation and/or training industry
  • Experience with computer graphics
  • Experience working in a cloud environment
  • Experience briefing leaders and giving presentations/written and verbal communication skills
