Job Description

The Sr. Proofpoint/Gmail Engineer, Palo Alto Networks will be responsible for leading initiatives for both Gmail and Proofpoint. You will be expected to work with vendors, run meetings, train support desk, and cross-train End User Engineering. You will be responsible for handling relationships, feature requests, or escalated requests from various departments, while leveraging Jira to prioritize and effectively show progress on said requests.. You will be responsible for owning, developing, and communicating the vision and strategy of initiatives planned in advance through quarterly business reviews, and presented via multiple roadmap sessions. This vision and strategy may change and you will be expected to have the agility to change or modify the roadmap to align with the needs of the business. 

You will also oversee the execution of new initiatives, purchased professional services and technology requests on behalf of IT. Working closely with IT and InfoSec, as well as leadership to understand and prioritize requirements, translate into project plans, and will work with platform experts to develop scalable solutions. 

This role will partner with both InfoSec and Infrastructure, business partners (e.g. IT, Sourcing, Finance, Legal, Partner), and production teams to analyze current state and recommend system improvements foundational to powering integrated IT strategies and journeys enabling the achievement of business critical goals. 

Your team is responsible for developing and implementing the tech roadmaps for Gmail and Proofpoint PPS, and you’ll work side by side with the Google Workspace administrators.

Your Impact 

  • Work closely with IT-End User Engineering, IT-Infrastructure, InfoSec, and leadership to understand technology capability gaps across our integrated Enterprise Mail Routing infrastructure.

  • Anticipate technical needs by translating business requirements into a flexible technical architecture across multiple products; enable strategy, use cases, and current/ future needs, building with an eye towards both quality and scale.

  • Work with cross-functional technical leads to design solutions that optimally utilize our enterprise mail routing infrastructure that supports our evolving IT strategy; stay abreast of InfoSec and other product manager strategies to ensure cohesion across the company.

  • Partner with cross-functional teams to develop a shared transformation roadmap; drive alignment and progress on transformational initiatives and deliverables. 

  • Drive and coordinate development of system documentation, privacy, testing, and UAT requirements

  • Utilize industry best practices and data-driven insights to provide strategic guidance and direction to our leadership

  • Partner with InfoSec to scale training, best practices, and tech capability roadmaps; ensure that End User Engineering, Support Desk and other administrators of the Gmail and Proofpoint environments understand the capabilities available to them to help them with their day to day activities

  • Communicate proactively with internal stakeholders throughout a project’s life cycle across functional areas; articulate technical concepts to non-technical audiences leading with the “what” and the “why” over the “how”

Qualifications

Your Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or technical field required

  • Extensive Knowledge and Experience with Proofpoint Protection Services, Gmail mail routing settings in Google Workspace Admin Console, and various email relay configurations.

  • Extensive Knowledge and Experience with AD, Core Google Workspace Services (Gmail, Calendar, Drive, Vault, Groups etc), AppScript, Python, Powershell, GCDS, and GAM

  • Experience configuring email and authentication (SMTP, ARC, SPF, DKIM, DMARC, DNS)

  • Troubleshooting email in large and complex environments

  • Deadline-driven, organized, and able to adapt to the rapid business and organizational demands that result from a high-growth environment

  • Cross-functional understanding of email operations, security practices and the user experience

  • Experience with JIRA/Confluence/Service Now

  • Experience working with cross-functional global teams

  • Knowledge and experience creating and maintaining policies, standard operating procedures (SOPs) and technical documents
