The Aerospace Corporation is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to join the Systems Engineering & Advanced Technology (SEAT) Subdivision of the Strategic Deterrence & Defense Division. SEAT plays a critical role in supporting the development of the Hypersonic and Ballistic Tracking Space Sensor (HBTSS) system for the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). The position of Senior Project Engineer is responsible for monitoring and independently assessing the development by industry of the HBTSS Phase IIb demonstration system and supporting the program office in developing future spirals of the HBTSS operational system.
What You'll Be Doing
- Monitoring/assessing the development by Industry of the HBTSS Phase IIb flight demonstration system
- Managing/performing studies to help solve Phase IIb technical issues
- Participating in OPIR Enterprise architecture studies that will help define future HBTSS spirals
- Collaborating with a combined team of government, other FFRDC/University Affiliated Research Center (UARC), and System Engineering and Technical Assistance (SETA) personnel
- Presenting status updates to senior Aerospace and Government leaders
What You Need to be Successful
Minimum Requirements:
- Engineering, Math, or Science degree from a recognized higher education institution
- Knowledge and experience in the development of National Security SpaceEO/IR sensor systems
- Knowledge and experience with Missile Defense and Missile Warning mission areas and operational architectures
- Exhibits exceptionally high level of innovation, creativeness, and initiative
Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with customers - Widely recognized internally and externally by peers, management, program office, Government program office counterparts, and contractors
- Effective oral and written communication skills and an ability to interact effectively with all levels of Aerospace, government, and contractor personnel
- Some travel is required
- This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance

- Advanced degree from an accredited program in engineering, math or science
- Experience in the development of Missile Warning/Defense Space Sensor Systems
- Have an active Top-Secret clearance and SCI access
