About the Role
As a Senior Power Validation Engineer, you will become a part of the Uber Metal Hardware Engineering team which is creating the latest hardware solutions to support Uber Infrastructure's compute, storage and machine learning needs. You will be involved in developing and qualifying power solutions for hardware platforms to improve performance, cost, reliability and efficiency at the server, Rack and datacenter level.
Job Descriptions:
• Collaborate and guide multiple ODM/OEM power solution partners during development stages of AC-DC and/or DC-DC power design qualification procedure, execute and/or review test plans and reports to ensure state of the art of product quality. • Conduct failure reproduction and analysis, work with cross functional engineering, production, and/or quality teams to root cause and provide best practices. • Be a power domain expert to internal and external teams in every aspect. • Work with Data Center Engineering and management to characterize infrastructure power issues including outage events and provide improvement plans.
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or equivalent experience. • 7+ years combined experience in power system design and validation involving high power AC-DC Power Supply, DC-DC power converters in large scale deployment. • Strong TTM track records of delivering quality power solutions in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
• 10+ years of experience in the server, networking or storage industry with analog power electronics, power supply circuitry, and circuit protection design validation. Experience in troubleshooting and resolving power supply and/or power delivery issues. • Knowledge of data center power infrastructure and delivery. • Knowledge of bus interface protocol used in PSU: I2C/PMbus, ModBus. • Knowledge of VRD/VRM buck converter for server CPUs is a plus. • Ability to critical thinking and independently create test plans based on design specifications and reliability requirements. • Ability to instrument and test power supplies and converters in the lab including use of oscilloscopes, power meters, electronic loads, DMM's and electronic sources. • Familiarity with EMI, Safety, and general agency requirements. • Familiarity with PCB layout tools to review PCB layout from a power validation or improvement perspective. • Familiarity with Power Integrity simulation tools to analyze PCB level power distribution corner cases is a plus.
For Colorado-based roles: The salary/hourly rate range for this role is $145,350 per year - $161,500 per year. You will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award, commissions, & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
