Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain an enterprise observability platform to alert key stakeholders of service degradation
  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in service availability across an enterprise software development pipeline
  • Respond to alerts of service availability and performance degradation
  • Collaborate with other technology teams on initiatives by communicating systems best practices, provisioning VMs and infrastructure based on those best practices, and developing operationalization strategies to ensure that new systems remain supported
  • Maintain OS level resources such as CPU, memory, and disk storage ensuring systems remain performant and available
  • Ensure enterprise systems remain up to date with security patches, OS upgrades, and configuration standards
  • Participate in design and engineering of applications to ensure resiliency
  • Support 24x7 on-call rotations for production environment availability
  • Travel requirements: 10% travel as needed to other offices and data centers for team building or maintenance
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required, assigned, or requested

Required Qualifications:

  • BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in systems administration, IT operations, engineering, DevOps, or similar
  • Knowledge of all and proven experience in most of the following:
    • Scripting languages such as Bash, Powershell, and Python
    • Automation tooling such as Ansible
    • Linux and Windows Operating Systems
    • Common network protocols and their usage (e.g. SMTP, N TP, LDAP, AD)
    • Web servers and their configuration (e.g. IIS, HTTPD, Tomcat)
    • Messaging middleware (e.g. Kafka, ActiveMQ)
    • Containerized infrastructure (i.e. Docker, Kubernetes)
    • Public Cloud Services (e.g. Azure, AWS)
    • Systems monitoring tools (e.g. SolarWinds, Nagios, AppDynamics)

Colorado, Connecticut or Nevada Residents Only: The salary range for Colorado residents is $79,700 to $142,600. The salary range for Connecticut/Nevada residents is $87,900 to $156,900. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, UnitedHealth Group offers benefits such as, a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements).
