The Senior QA Automation Engineer role will be responsible for testing software applications with a focus on quality and reliability. They are responsible for defining, implementing, and maintaining automation solutions and strategy. The Engineer will provide technical advice and direction to help team and practice to deliver effective automation solutions. They will work closely with their agile team and participate in agile ceremonies, contribute to developing acceptance criteria, create test cases and test scripts needed for successful execution of manual and automated functional tests. In addition, the role is responsible for ensuring that quality issues and defects are appropriately identified, documented, tracked, and resolved prior to release.

  • Responsibilities
    • Display a strong understanding of Agile QA methodologies, tools, and processes
    • Apply Quality Engineering principles throughout the Agile lifecycle
    • Evangelize 'Quality as a Team Mindset' within the team
    • Lead and Drive 'Automation as a Team Mindset' within the team
    • Exhibit strong collaboration skills within team and across practice
    • Execute all levels of testing (System, Integration, and Regression)
    • Exhibit domain knowledge and product expertise for supported applications
    • Decompose stories/business requirements into test cases that clearly articulate test objectives, steps, and expected results
    • Develop and maintain a regression testing strategy for supported applications
    • Estimate, prioritize, plan, coordinate/perform and document results of test execution
    • Report, track, and retest defects prior to release
    • Applies thought leadership around test automation solutions and tools
    • Drive consistent improvement and knowledge sharing principles across the team
    • Participate in and conduct regular test case peer reviews and automation code reviews
    • Lead automation strategies/solutions within team and across discipline
    • Builds, tests, deploys, monitors, and maintains effective test automation solutions
    • Analyze and understand the current technology architecture, system interdependencies and application stacks
    • Evaluate and propose use of new tools for continuous improvement and driving automation strategies forward
    • Lead by example in exhibiting initiative for self-learning of new technical skills and tools
    • Mentor others in test automation and QA best practices
    • Develops and maintains test automation frameworks
    • Lead and Partner with team to build automated testing into the CI/CD pipeline
  • Experience
    • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience and/or certifications
    • Working knowledge in automation tools - examples: Smartbear suite (Testcomplete, QA Complete, Ready API or SoapUI), Selenium / Appium, Cypress, Postman, Swagger, GitLab, Postman, CI/CD
    • 5+ years experience of web, mobile, API, microservices, and database automation
    • Strong experience with API test automation such as Postman, ReadyAPI, Swagger
    • Strong knowledge in programming concepts and experience in programming languages like Java, JavaScript, C#, SQL, PowerShell
    • Demonstrated skill in using coding standards and being an active participant in code reviews.
    • Possess high aptitude for problem solving and trouble-shooting both independently and as part of a collaborative team
    • Knowledge of MS Office: Work, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Access
    • Passion for achieving excellence in technical, process, product quality and reliability.
