We are seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to join our Messaging team. As a leader on the Messaging team you will drive the technical strategy for Messaging Platform, Performance, Notifications and Privacy. These areas are at the core of sending and consuming billions of snaps and chats daily. Working from our Los Angeles, San Francisco, or Seattle office, you will manage teams across all three locations, and collaborate with leaders and executives throughout Snap to make Snapchat the fastest way to communicate.
What You’ll Do:
Create and manage cross-platform (iOS, Android, C++) product and engineering roadmaps that will enable the foundations of our Messaging product strategy
Set the strategy, create aligned OKRs and lead your team to deliver
Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams distributed across multiple locations
Build and grow a team of exceptional software engineers and technical leaders
Iterate quickly without compromising quality and raise the bar on operational excellence
Create growth opportunities, measure impact of the team, set clear expectations and goals, give regular feedback, promote talent, and manage performance issues
Influence key decisions on architecture and implementation of scalable, reliable, and cost-effective engineering solutions
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Experience collaborating with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of a company
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with high attention to detail
Someone who loves to learn, and is passionate about helping others and developing their team
Experience with shipping user-facing systems, especially at a large scale
Track record of delivery in rapidly changing, highly collaborative, multi-stakeholder environments
Previous experience partnering with cross-functional executives and management across a globally distributed organization and exercising sound judgment
Experience making critical decisions for complex technical issues in real-time, considering timelines and urgency
Minimum Qualifications:
BS/BA in a technical field such as Computer Science or equivalent experience
10+ years of experience working in software engineering
4+ years of experience leading or managing teams of high performing software engineers
