Remote-first means that there is no expectation that Zoomers come into an office for a fixed number of days outside of those employees identified as essential onsite workers. The engineering team for Growth at LegalZoom focuses on improving customer acquisition through paid, organic, and sales channels. The Senior Manager, Engineering, Growth will be responsible for leading a talented team of software engineers who are responsible for designing and implementing applications and amazing user experiences that have scale and speed. This role requires the ability to balance between people management, leadership, and technical responsibilities. This position will collaborate with product, operational, as well as other engineering leaders. This position is an excellent opportunity to drive the future of our software applications, platforms and marketing systems to provide value to our Marketing, Product and User Experience teams while delivering a seamless experience to our customers.
You will:
  • Have 1-1s with engineers on your team. Build relationships by getting to know them better, cultivate their communication skills, coach them through a conflict, and partner with them to unlock new ideas to accelerate developer productivity and solve customer pain-points.
  • Lead and advocate for better development practices through CI, automated testing, and operational efficiency.
  • Grow the technical expertise of your team around craft, quality, scalability, performance, and fault tolerance using state of the art tools.
  • Identify, reach out to, and screen candidates who might strengthen your team by bringing a diverse perspective your team is currently lacking.
  • Head prioritization discussions with marketing, sales, design partners and other engineering teams.
  • Identify opportunities in paid, organic, and sales channels and develop solutions through technical innovation.

What we are looking for:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field (Masters degree preferred)
  • 3+ years of experience in a management role, building and motivating a diverse engineering organization fostering autonomy, innovation and learning, while holding a high bar for craft
  • Hands on experience with React, Angular or Vue.js as well as a track record of delivering amazing solutions with them.
  • Experience in marketing technologies including A/B, multivariate and multi-page testing, Content Management Systems, integrating with CRM systems, CDPs and Marketing Automation
  • Expertise in implementing third-party tools and integrating them in first-party applications: Optimizely, Google Analytics 4, Amplitude, Tealium etc.
  • A great communicator
  • Experience building and consuming APIs using one of: Node.js, C#, Java, PHP
  • Working with relational and non-relational database systems (SQL Server, MySql, Mongo, Redis, Cassandra)
  • Experience with integrating CDN's such as Akamai, Cloudflare, Cloudfront
  • Knowledge and experience working in Cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).

What can set you apart
  • You have worked with internal or open-source design systems.
  • You have a deep understanding and hands on experience in React, Node.js, Typescript, and GraphQL
  • You have developed effective Content Management Solutions for websites and web applications.
  • You have experience with identity resolution technologies and Consumer Data Platforms.

For onsite roles or roles that require periodic onsite visits, LegalZoom requires all employees to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 before starting work, unless precluded from doing so by applicable law.
