The Application Security Leader reports to the Director of Cyber Defense & Engineering and serves as the liaison with software teams like Business Enterprise Systems to drive the right cyber strategy for all Collins Aerospace applications. In this Sr. Manager-level role, you will lead a team of diverse professionals to develop and execute our enterprise approach to manage cyber threats and compliance risk to our application portfolio.

You will design, build, deploy and sustain security solutions across these Collins-unique environments. The responsibilities of you and your team will include providing both hands-on security engineering, as well as consulting-type roles. You'll manage resource allocation across a wide-range of critical priorities, and balance sustaining work (to maintain existing security solutions) with project work (to build and evolve capabilities). You'll provide technical expertise on projects, handle troubleshooting and escalations, and manage team operations. You will enhance relationships with partner organizations, including the Raytheon (RTX) cyber team, Collins Digital Technology (DT) peers and with the businesses. You will support several cross-cutting initiatives, including digital transformation and software integrity investments. In 2022, there will be extra focus on building out this recently restructured team-understanding business needs and compliance requirements, refining program scope and building a roadmap to mature this organization. You will partner with your director to drive the business case for additional resources where needed across your portfolio and socialize your mission and approach with key stakeholders.***This individual can sit at any Collins Aerospace domestic locations or remote. ***

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Attracts, develops and retains world-class talent with a focus on building strong team culture
  • Owns the execution of the 3- year application security strategy
  • Focuses on tactical and operational plans with short-to medium term deliveries or goals focus (e.g. 1 to 2 years)
  • Influences others outside of own job area regarding policies, practices and procedures
  • Leads technical execution of multiple, complex and high-visibility projects
  • Maintains strong relationships across DT to promote alignment with partners and effective execution of the mission
  • Develops and manages burndown plan of risks across application portfolio
  • Regularly communicates up, down and across all layers of the organization

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree and 10 years prior relevant experience OR Advanced Degree in a related field and a minimum of 7 years' experience or in absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience is required
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements
  • The ability to travel 10-20% of the time
  • Cyber engineering or operations expertise, preferably with a background in software or cloud
  • Familiarity with waterfall and agile development processes and experience in integrating secure development practices into both models leveraging secure coding best practices.
  • Familiarity with identifying and mitigating application vulnerabilities publicized by OWASP, WASC, CWE and other like organizations, consortiums and projects.
  • Background in aerospace, technology, manufacturing or adjacent industries
  • Minimum of 5 years of Leadership experience (e.g. managing projects, workstreams or small teams)

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience building new programs and leading small teams (< 10 people)
  • Self-starter-able to work autonomously and able to operate with minimal supervision in a highly visible, high-pressure environment
  • Ability to manage urgent and competing priorities
  • Strong technical and executive communications skills
