Sr. Frontend Engineer, Machine Learning Platform (Michelangelo)
About the role:
Partners with stakeholders and leads team efforts to design, develop, and maintain complex user interfaces and features for web applications that meet the design, functionality, and complexity needs of end users.
About the Team:
This team is within the Uber Machine Learning Platform team (Michelangelo).
We build a truly extensible management system to manage full cycles Machine Learning ecosystems. We empower ML engineers to make impacts with confidence and ease.
Our team is composed of collaborative people with deep knowledge in various domains, such as, but not limited to, distributed systems, analytical systems, large-scale backend services, large-scale computing infra, feature stores, data vis and cloud-based AI solutions.
Meet Michelangelo: Uber's Machine Learning Platform
In this role, you will build the frontend of the system. That is a combination of standard entity pages and data viz pages. Beyond the standard UI challenges, we are making the UI configuration driven from API, so that backend engineers can leverage the system to add in new components into this fast growing ML ecosystem without dev cycles from frontend engineers.
The frontend engineers will be free up from making those standard pages, and focus on the UI framework and building insightful interactive data viz pages for understanding the models better.
Minimum qualifications:
• PhD or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field OR 3-years full-time Software Engineering work experience, WHICH INCLUDES 2-years total technical software engineering experience in one or more of the following areas:• Programming language (e.g. JavaScript, CSS, Node.js)• Architecting, building, and maintaining web applications• Note the 2-years total of specialized software engineering experience may have been gained through education and full-time work experience, additional training, coursework, research, or similar (OR some combination of these). The years of specialized experience are not necessarily in addition to the years of Education & full-time work experience indicated.
Technical skills:
Required:
• Experience with Modern JavaScript• Experience with Modern JS frameworks• Exposure to modern UX concepts
Preferred:
• 4+ years full stack experience developing web applications at large scale• Experience designing and developing web UIs using JavaScript or Typescript• Experience using frontend frameworks such as React or GraphQL• Experience with Kubernetes
