  • Strong background in Java Development
  • You have been a part of or led agile development teams

  • Understanding of monitoring/telemetry solutions (Splunk, ELK, AppDynamics, etc) data ingestion and analysis
  • Knowledge of Linux/Unix systems

  • Experience with dealing with production issues

Duties of the Role:

1. Provides Senior level IT services and direction for critical software, middleware, or hardware projects on multiple platforms. Provides technical expertise and completes sophisticated development, design, implementation, architecture design specification, and maintenance activities.
2. Ensures the viability of IT deliverables. Recommends development options and helps to implement and support technical deliverables. Conducts testing, including functionality, technical limitations, and security.
3. Identifies potential solutions and helps with their development and implementation. Elevates complex technical issues to IT experts. Resolves technical problems discovered by testers and internal clients. Responds to and resolves technical issues in a timely manner. Research issues and performs root cause analysis. Anticipates technology problems and prevents them.
4. Communicates with key partners on project issues and implications. Evaluates the impacts of change requests on technologies and effectively persuades and influences others on ideas.
5. Maintains a current and working knowledge of IT development methodology, architecture design, and technical standards. Stays abreast of and utilizes new standards as they are instituted.
6. Creates documentation and diagrams, including technical standards and processes.
7. Finds opportunities for continuous quality improvement of technical standards, methodologies, and technologies.
8. Participates in design, code, and test inspections throughout product life cycle to identify issues. Shares technical status and issues with team during milestone reviews.

1. Provides senior level system analysis, design, development, and implementation of applications and databases. Integrates third party products.

2. Translates technical specifications into code for complex new or enhancement projects for internal clients. Writes programs, develops code, tests artifacts, and produces reports. Employs software development techniques to ensure tests are implemented in a way that support automation.

3. Elevates code into the development, test, and production environments on schedule. Provides follow up production support. Submits change control requests and documents.

4. Thoroughly understands software development methodology. Thoroughly understands development architecture standards. Trains and mentors staff with less experience. Resolves elevated issues.

5. Thoroughly understands client business functions and technology needs. Has a broad understanding of Vanguard's technologies, tools, and applications, including those that interface with business area and systems.

6. Interfaces with cross functional team members, and communicates systems issues at the appropriate technical level for each audience.

7. Thoroughly understands and complies with Information Technology and Information Security policies and procedures, and verifies that deliverables meet requirements.

8. Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years related work experience, with at least one year of development experience.
• Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience.
