Job Description
Balances business/function success in support of total Motorola strategy.
Evaluates fundamental problems within assigned department, functional or organizational responsibility or cross functional boundaries and is expected to develop successful solutions.
Negotiates with suppliers, strategic partners and/or internal customers.
Handles internal/external customer and/or supplier interface as required at a senior level.
Regularly interfaces with senior Motorola leadership, key internal/external organizations and governmental bodies.
Coordinates activities and direction through highly matrixed relationships.
Responsible for productivity and professional growth of assigned employees.
Responsible for customer satisfaction and quality of engineering deliverables within the scope of assigned activities.
Accountable for and contributes significantly towards profitability and/or cost containment by indirectly impacting the P&L through project work, research and development, tools development or functional management.
Manages engineering resources focused on requirements of multiple departments, projects or programs.
Regularly manages cross functional issues dealing with internal operational goals, customer satisfaction issues, contractual, financial, risk, scheduling, and resource issues.
Manages operational and fiscal activities to include: staffing levels, budgets and financial goals.
Allocates resources across areas of responsibility to address business needs.
Oversees activities of multiple departments, programs or strategic initiatives.
Qualifications:
Hands-on experience and in-depth knowledge of continuous delivery tools and best practices
Establishes support strategy basis for current and prospective clients
Works, at a high level, with vendors, partners, and sales to ensure that optimum systems solutions are provided to new and existing customers
Develops and applies methods, theories and research techniques to provide solutions to the team
Plans, conducts and directs projects including costs, staffing, technical leadership and project evaluation
May serve as a technical resource for long-range planning
Can lead new technologies and the most complex projects.
Extensive knowledge in product, technology, services, customer operations and business complexities.
Adept at guiding and enabling team members.
Knowledge of business needs, knowledge of industry requirements, knowledge of customer operations, and ability to guide resources to obtain objectives.
Locations & Travel Requirement:
Open to this individual residing anywhere in the US. Must reside proximal to a major airport. Travel requirement is anticipated for 50% of the time.
Note: Location listings are that of our Motorola Solutions regional offices. Our preference would be for our Sr. Engineering Business Manager to reside near an office though not mandatory.
Basic Requirements
Bachelor of Science degrees in an Engineering discipline
8+ years experience working in an engineering-centric position
5+ years in an a personnel management role
